Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Halberds almost have as much range, but I wouldn't even want to try to hit you, since I'd then miss, and stagger as if I had a greatsword... I'd probably pyromancy you almost 100% if I ever faced off against you. I try to keep my playstyle 50/50. But I have to change according to the opponent and the situation.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Actually spur and his scythe gave me trouble. For some reason I was really afraid of getting hit by it.
Also magic and pyromancy dont work against me anymore. Unless you catch me by surprise (and I dont mean mid fight, I mean while Im bowing or waiting for a bow) you arent going to hit me.

Just the great scythe. But he was a dragon. Only my mistimed rolls let him hit me.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Great Sythe doesn't have the same stagger as the halberds, but it isn't as fast of an initial swing. Overall. If a Gargoyle Halberd hits, it's faster than the great sythe. If they were to both miss, the Great Sythe would then be faster.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Maybe not. I'd have to change my playstyle to the one I use against spur and Im not so good with that one. Its a reactive style. If you fought me with a mid-low range wep I could show you mygood style.

ahh. So mid-long range, you're a bit messed up? I still don't have any real experience against DSS...

Its more my main style uses the 2h r1 to keep the distance, then lure them in so i can roll r1 them when Im ready. I cant keep the distance against someone who has distance.

But halberd is still a long range weapon. I dont know Id have to fight you to get a proper feel for facing a halberd.

Meh. I felt the same way against Federally, but then I got ahead of him 3-1. Then tied him 4-4. Though, I did kinda have my pyromancy for a fall-back.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
I only use it if you have no range farther than the Fire Tempest, or if you're forced to dodge perfectly to get out of it. 40 dex means you really do have to dodge perfectly with a flip ring. You wouldn't have time to get any ranged attack off.
Depending on the arena, I could really get you trapped. I love the burg because the arena has corners. The circle in The Painted World is a bit big, but I trapped Federally a few times, he had to flip far away. Though, I usually just tried to get in a lucky shot. It's not extremely useful in that arena. And I'm not good enough to try to be able to manipulate another towards the wall without them knowing unless it's as small as the burg.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Joe one tip, several times you could have pinned me against the wall then hit Tempest and been almost guaranteed a hit, but you never pressed hard enough. You always hit Tempest when you were far enough away I could back to the wall and be safe. Hell in one match I won I had wound up pressed against the wall dodging gireballs and combustions but you didn't advance before Tempest.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
You know how I said that my playstyle is to mix it up as much as I can? It's because I usually have no idea what to do...
I mean. I know a few tips and tricks here and there for very specific situations, but I rarely can plan ahead. And I usually can't be very aware of the situation.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Well at least once if you had simply rolled forward then hit tempest I very well may have died. Just be aware of the surroundings, if I'm backed up against a wall I have less options for avoiding Tempest, take advantage of it.
Also calm the fireball spam, mix it more with combustion, someone better then me would have landed more backstabs.

Lol well you did a good job avoiding it the next go around.
Dunno how many attunement slots you have but if you can support it mixing GCF with GF may work. I got so used to dodging GF spam and knowing I can head back in the direction I just came from I may have missed a GCF mixed in and accidentally dodged into lava.

Re: Federally vs JoeBroski
Dude, if you roll and attack, I've parried so many guys who just simply spam the roll+attack, it's not even funny. what is funny is that I always dodge afterwards, so I don't get in the reposte, but they stop the spamming, then I lose...
