well... this my 1st post and i just have to ask as it is realy killing me in my time of playing dark souls i seen a lot of weird things in pvp and online co-op but the thing thats realy weird to me is that all most all players use the same builds/fighting styles and the most common of which is poist breaking where a dude swings a sword at y till he gets you and then most of the time he kills you by emptying his/hers stamina in you... why do people do that i know spammers and backstabbers are annoying but they can be easly killed in different ways but i dont get the point of putting havels/gaints armour and the wolfs/flip and havels ring on and then justt hitting the air till y get the opponent can some1 tell me whats the point???

They just haven't met someone good at parrying yet.

Roll out of the combo. As far as I know, almost no attack guarantees a second attack (i.e., there are almost no stunlocks in this game). People get sucked into "stunlocks" by zweihanders and claymores because they try to interupt a combo with an attack of their own. That never works.

That and some people get really annoyed at turtles, and don't use or have access to spells or miracles like WoG. I'm guilty of doing it myself, but I only really resort to this when they're using a spear or a rapier that lets them be behind a shield 100% of the time.
It wouldn't be a problem to someone who was patient, but I am not lol

They do it because they can win doing it. And yes, parrying is quite hard when you're lagging (I live in Brazil, got a 10 MB internet but I still lag, especially when fighting someone outside North America), so you're better off using something like WoG or rolling away.

They do it because it's easy against most players, as most players don't realize that breaking claymore and zwei stuns isn't that hard.
Now here's a secret that I probably shouldn't reveal: these two weapons are not the best low-level poise manglers. Not by a long shot! If you want to see a real stunlock, let me come at you with a two-handed mace or a two-handed battle axe. Two hits with either of these and you're mine until I unload a full bar of stamina. Of course, their range is crap to make up for their stunlocking awesomeness.
Edit: The above serves as my advice to you. If someone charges you with a lightning claymore and you think they're aiming for a stunlock, equip a lightning mace two-handed and beat them at their own game. Charge in as soon as they miss an attack and mash attack like it's going out of style.

I agree 2 handed battle axe users give more trouble than greatswords.

if you know they're going for a stunlock, just block their first attack and parry their second. i've never failed a parry that way yet

Parry. The only times parry don't work is when it lags. This means 50% of the time.

Huh? Katanas' poise breaking is crap. I assume you're tanking multiple hits. Otherwise, this makes no sense.
