DISTANCE. it doesn't matter how good your connection is if the signal has to travel 10000 miles. Even if both connections are t1 lines, you will get lag when people are far away. I have lots of awesome fights with japanese people, but most of my fights with europeans are laggy.

DISTANCE. The other persons connection is important as well, but no matter how good your connections are, if you're in london, playing against someone in Japan, its going to lag. I get more lag with europeans than the japanese because I live closer to them

They can't use servers now. Just email From telling them you want servers in the next one. Western and eastern are subjective. I don't want to be cut-off from people in japan or on the east coast of the US, as in both cases lag is generally minimal, but I wouldn't mind not playing against europeans because of the lag.
For the east coast its the west coast and europe, for europe the east coast, and for japan the west coast.

It may be against From's ideals, but they should definitely make it so you can choose which server to connect to in the options menu. i live in nyc and have twc and i have never seen lag in battlefield, cod on the other hand is laggy as hell, they have the worse servers EVER, and it doesn help that theyre games feel like a crappy expansion pack, dark souls on the other hand is laggy too but it just depeds on the way the whole p2p thing is set up, which is what kinda ruins the online play but when you get together with people that dont lag its pretty awesome.

It was actually fine for me because it balanced what you see and what they see pretty good. I have horrible internet, but they wouldn't see me THAT easily. Plus, I can turn a corner like a mofo. I go crazy at my friend's house. He has max comcast internet

I'm that dude laying in the grass with a silenced burst fire assault rifle. Never break 20 or 25 kills, but I never die more than 5 times either. 15 and 3 is around average.
