Demon and Dark Souls worlds are not in any way related. He is simply a reference to the first game, not the same person.

Kind of like how Final Fantasy games (movies, interactive comics, etc) all have someone named "Cid" often with a lot of similarities. Although in this case Patches is near identical.

Miyazaki says he has a few things he likes he brings from game to gane. They're unrelated, he just like patches, and he just likes the mechanic behind Snuggly, etc.

Beat me to it! This is the best comparison I can think of.

Final Fantasy games often reuse core concepts and even characters like Cid. But the main titles of the FF series are never direct sequels or even in the same universe at all. It almost certain that this is the relationship between DeS and DaS.

Snuggly / Sparkly and the crestfallen warrior are essentially the same characters as well.

My Own magical theoy was that he traveld from bolataria to lorden...But den agin why wood be the magial question....I mean besides getting your benind kick by the local population...What is there to do in Lorden that you cant Do in Bolataria?

Kingdom Hearts explains the beginning to the characters in FFX I believe. And it's accurate as well.
