Fire Tempest or Chaos Storm?

Tempest. Imo, the only chaos spell worth the extra slot is gcfb. Otherwise, stack multiples or add versatility

i like chaos. it makes it harder to roll thru everything and attack the caster, and once they're hit with the chaos storm they may take additional damage from the lava on top of the fact that it has a residual zoning effect from the lava.

preference tho.

Agree with this wholeheartedly.

Use chaos storm, so when you use it and lava is left over you can lift your head to the sky and laugh manically.

I preffer tempest, but if you have enough ATT, go with chaos. The lava is good to keep distance and surprise people who don't roll

I've got a PURE chaos build. 50 att, chaos weapons etc. Pretty cool, but I'd go Chaos because it's cooler.

Chaos storm is obviously better with the residual lava effect, but not enough so to justify the extra slot in my opinion.

I prefer tempest because it does more damage when it hits and covers a bit more area since each pillar is larger. Plus the lava is in my experience at best a defensive asset since if they get hit with the initial pillars they get sent flying either out of the lava or are invincible to it as they wake up, and if they don't get hit they just stand back until it goes away. Also the two slots and only one possible scroll part hurts its usefulness, as I'd usually rather have either another cast of the spell or, as someone said earlier, another different spell for versatility.

I would say go with tempest IF you have two casts of it, otherwise go chaos. It really is worth going into ng+ for extra pyro casts though, and they are by far the easiest to get spells.Unless im trying to do something fancy i almost always have the same pyro set up, except on my pure chaos pyro build. I have 34att,(2)Great Combustion,(2)Great Fireball,(1)Chaos Great Fireball, and (2) Fire Tempest. I did use fire surge for a while, but i found it wasnt really worth it, you could always replace it for a GC or GF. Msg me if you wanna have that Black Firebomb fight to practice manually aiming.

This guy on sansvie had an awesome tactic that has worked for me when it comes to casting firestorms. Its really only for when your going 0 poise but awesome tactic none the less. What they did is put a little distance between them and the opponent, and cast iron flesh. Then they pretended to try and roll(like they didnt know iron flesh made you stagger instead of roll) and right after cast firestorm. If you time it well the opponent almost always trys to run in for the backstab and you hit them with the firestorm. God does it suck when you cast a firestorm and your opponent has crazy luck and just stands right in the middle w/o getting hit. I think having 2 fire tempests which allow for 3 decent sized casts is better then the lava you get from chaos. You usually are able to get them when they think you're all out, first casts are usually dodged in my experiences. Unless you time it well, or they are noobs lol.

I'd say Tempest is better for all of those reasons.


However I was wondering, do Chaos Firestorm and Great Chaos Fireball scale with humanity like Chaos weapons?

I am pretty sure they don't, that was a rumor for a while.

Fire Tempest, because they cover more area and I've never seen a Chaos Storm Pillar go as far as 2 DSS lengths. Oh, and I love 'wasting' a cast of Tempest since I have 2. So when they go for a BS they still take a full Tempest to the face.
