Curiosity: Toon name VS PSN/XBLA

When you are invaded/summoned, your PSN/XBLA name comes up. Does anyone think naming your toon is pointless as a result?

I wonder if there would be an efficient way to patch this if FROM decided to. :suspect:

I personally think that toon name is only for you to keep track of your different saved games as it really does not show up when invading/summoning etc.

I just think it would be way more fun if it read:

"Dark Spirit Charles Manson has invaded." :shock:

...rather than:

"Dark Spirit ChuckEMan6969X_X has invaded" :suspect:

True! I think it would be cool if it tells your toon name instead of PSN/XBL name ;D.

So many Cosplays would show up now, no more new accounts.

I'd much rather my PSN show, so people recognise me. I spent time getting an ID I like, if it ment nothing I'd be upset.

There would also be tons of duplicate names. That would just confuse people.

Good thought. The only reason I brought this up is because we all work to make our builds ours and some of us go as far as to make up lore for them so why NOT tell the invadee or summoner who is entering their world? I understand that there are a lot of people that would abuse it and create their own Dark Souls version of Charlie Sheen, so maybe it can be an on/off option in the settings menu.

I would love to see people have me invade with my one and only PvP toon "Cath..." (If you know the song, awesome ) She's a Follower. (Player made covenant. Click my image in my sig) and I only invaded Blight. I'd understand how it'd not work for people with multiple PvP toons, but I only have 1, so it'd work great for me

Good thing the PSN comes up and not the name of the toon, all mine are one character long, like a or / or ! or .

That settles it for me. I'll never invade now because I hate my PSN ID (chosen in a rush because I just wanted to get on and play with my new console godammit!) Mind you there could be an upside. My opponent would be too busy laughing to fight.

Just have the psn and then the toon name under it. That seems viable to me

You could change your gamertag to suit your characters name , or to have a Dark Souls related name , but on XBL it will cost you 800 MSP. :|

I like my gamertag to come up, the xbox community is not so large that I dont run into repeats fairly often and I'd like to be dealt with based on their previous experience of me.

the same people tend to hang out in the same area's most of the time , if you keep that in mind im sure you'll run into more repeating hosts or invaders more often.

I meet a lot of people regularly without knowing in advance , but we are all in the 120 bracket though

The biggest concern would be usage control however. Two big issues....not only would Sony/Microsoft have to initiate filters for inappropriate names (I think they have these right?), From would have to either have their own filter or integrate with the existing ones. Second issue, IDs and gamertags are all in a database to ensure that each player is assigned a unI could say I was someone else if I knew their gamertag/ID or even toon name. So if I invaded a host and saw his buddy's name I could then change my toon name to that and harass the person in various ways.

Admittedly, if they could work it out so both names are shown it would be nice to show off your toon name.

I'd really like it if everytime I invaded it said "Dark spirit DamageCK/ComeAtMeBro has invaded". I vote for PSN and build title.
