you are talking about putting the ring on right as you are dying?
i have never tried it but it might work.
if you quit the game 3 times after getting cursed you will eventually wake up dead but not cursed.

This is true and it works, if you die and lose a large amount of souls and humanity put on the ring on your way back to your blood stain, if you DO happen to die again before you reach it your blood stain won't be reset it will still have the same amount of souls/humanity you had before your very fist death.
Kinda a neat trick I found out while hosting duels and getting attacked by invaders in sens.

Yeah, the only time I ever use the sacrifice rings is during the immortal seath fight! I hear there's a way to skip him, but never found out how.

This is pretty well known, and a neat trick too.
What isn't so well known is that triggering the darksign will also preserve your bloodstain, no matter where you lost it, but you will lose what souls and humanity you are carrying. The darksign will not turn you back into a hollow if you are human either.
I should probably add this to the wiki while I remember.

you totes should i use the darksign all the time (cheaper than a homeward bone) and i didnt know this.
