Shortcut to izalith not open =/

i became a chaos servant rank 2 and got the chaos storm pyromancy but the shortcut never opened. I reloded my game but to no avail. I havent talked to kingseeker frampt even though I have the lordvessal. I killed ceasless and other bosses before joining her covenant.
Is there something I need to do before the shortcut will open? possibly place the lordvessal?

Have you placed the lordvessel? Is the golden fog guardinbg the passage gone? Did you walk up to it and press x/the xbox equivalent?

A would be the xbox equivalent dough, lol and you need to place the lordvessel to open the gold fog gate to even get to the shortcut, the far wall in the room with the white spider lady is where you find kirks armor after killing him for the third time.

You do need to place the lordvessel yes. I missed this.

I was waiting to do this because I wanted to join the darkwraiths though. Can I talk to frampt and place it but still join them?

no to join the dark wraiths you must speak to kaathe, who if you place the lordvessel via frampt, won't appear, basically beat the four kings, and talk to kaathe, you don't have to join them at first if you wish to open the shortcut. (as far as i know, i haven't actually joined either covenant to test this out.)

Nope. If you talk to frampt Kaathe will disappear.

I was thinking the 4 kings were also blocked off by the orange fog, so I was a lil confused on what to do.

no the kings are sealed differently, so technically you could kill them off at SL 1, should you choose to kill ingred(or however his name is spelled) and unseal them. but to do so you still need to kill sif for the covenant of artorias to traverse the abyss.

You actually only need posses the LV to get the key from Ingward, so you dont have to kill him.
