Darkmoon or Composite Bow Empty Darkmoon or Composite Bow

Post by White Mamba Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:27 am

How does the Darkmoon Bow go as a backup in PVP? Im planning on having around 30 faith and 40ish dex. Would it be worth making or should I just take the composite bow up to +14?

Look. Copy/pasted from a post I made on another thread.

I played with Gaxe and did some damage tests with my pure faith SL 120 build. Here's what I got.

    20 Str / 16 Dex / 50 Faith

    Darkmoon Bow: 151 physical + 297 magical = 450 total AR
    Damage: 161 with moonlight arrow.

    Occult Composite Bow: 117 physical + 358 magical = 476 total AR
    Damage: 209 with moonlight arrows

    Damage difference: 48

Divine damage was 200, almost the same as occult. This was tested on a human player. Damage difference is significant considering the low damage of arrows.

In your case however, you are better with a short bow +15, because of 40 Dex. Occult/divine scaling stops at 50 faith.

I'd actually do the opposite and turn the shortbow into the darkmoon and the composite into either occult or +15, seeing as the composite has a higher AR than the shortbow.

I find that the composite has bad aim and the darkmoon is spot on. my 2 cents

edit: I meant instead of darkmoon, black bow of pharis... but that wasn't even an option though was it? oops

I know what you mean. The composite bow tends to shoot a little to the left of the crosshairs, but it's no trouble to adjust, and the composite does more damage.

I think that most bows do that actually, I have a sniper (Black Bow w/Hawk Ring) and its really noticeable when you zoom in fully. You pretty much have to pretend they have a second head to the right and shoot it.
