Then out of nowhere it says he is invading another world as dark spirit. He never even used any red orbs or the red sign. Does anybody know how or why this happened?

Yeah its a common glitch where instead of being summoned as a white you will be ummoned as a red. Dont worry about it.
I hope they were getting summoned to help against Sif

That actually doesnt make sense because when he spawned he was not near his sign and the people he invaded were nowhere near him so it was like a normal invasion without actually invading....

Indeed, it is a strange glitch. One can also accidentally invade as a white phantom, or merely another color blue if not, red it not.
