Yes that's a very good tactic against bows, shield up and make the game boring for them. It's almost the same tactic against the spear, you continue to spam shoot the bow till they rage quit and switch out the spear.

Is ^R1 Kicking a spear turtle in the face even worth trying? Or will I just get punished for the attempt?

You could, but you better have at least 42 poise to tank 2 hits, then kick. You'll need a very fast weapon to hit them afterwards though, like a kat or claymore.

Bows? ehhh. I've faced many MANY with my DSS build, and don;t think i have ever been shot directly with an arrow. I either dodge or turtle.

If they panic because of poison with over 10% health it means they don't really know their own strategy, or are just newbs.

I say the best weapon is poise.

I'd say Pyromancy, or parrying is the best against a spear user, from my experience at least. As well the Great Scythe is excellent against them because of its dead angles.

Great Scythe doesn't work. Sprinting R1 you go directly into their R1 thrusts spammage. R2s are way to slow, and the spears out range them. I know this because I was using my GS build today at Burg and I was getting pwned only by the SKS/DSS/Pike users, whereas against any other weapon I feel that I have the advantage.

With the running attack you dead angle them, then normal R1, then do the combo stunlock on them. As well with the GS you can do the running attack to the side hitting them with a dead angle, then immediately dodge out, you'll completely out damage them while also applying bleed on them.

Yeah the Shotel is pretty great, under rated really since I rarely see it. Just be careful against those who know how to parry, the R2 is incredibly easy to riposte.

I laugh at Shotel users, poking them from afar with my SKS, in their irritating attempt to R1 spam me. Pffff.

That's why you never use the R2 out of range, why would they do it out of range?

So you are rolling, then waiting the second so that you don't press R1 and do the rolling attack, to hit them. Meaning there is a definite amount of time for them to not be in the swing, since they realize you are doing this. As well that is very predictable to do, and if they know how to parry can easily land one on your pokes.

They will mostly 2 hand it and spam R1 Tolvo. The average PvPer doesn't know how to parry nor is interested in doing so. And as I have said, spears are the most difficult to parry because of their range. The timing depends on the range.

It just seems that you are willing to present your side from the view of a good player, but no others. Quite an unfair way to try and reason with a person truly.

The average pvper doesn't parry because of netcode. I hope that gets fixed somehow to be closer to pve, parrying in pvp sounds fun.

Well spears are the most easy to learn weapons. You don't have to be a good player to be skillful in the use of them, because they are so effective for PvP that indeed you feel skillful, when in reality you are not. In the hands of a veteran player I would just look skyward and prepare for my death.
But not anymore, thanks to my discovery of the bow!

That's pretty insulting to spear users Wyrm.

My plan to beat you is to pull out a spear, when you change to bow, I will kill you with... well maybe my bare dragon claws or a straight sword hilt +9, heck maybe even the spear.

Now I'm not saying its impossible to bow well, but you're really giving too much credit to both spears and bows I feel.

I have pretty good luck against Turtles with emit force, once they start the r1 spam roll backwards and cast. They will take a spell to the shield and be open for a running attack from my Rapier haha.

Yeah, so we can't play, really, just write down your victories bow vs spear, maybe out of 20 or 30 games, and then compare them to 20 or 30 games against spear users where you don't overly use the bow and get into the mindset that its beatable, and I think your numbers may surprise you, just a thought.

Bow users are just annoying. They would probably never kill me if I wasn't so damn impatient rofl.
