Armor Pick Up Locations Empty Armor Pick Up Locations

Post by Buggy Virus Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:01 pm

Should we assume where we pick up armor sets are the final resting places of NPCs we meet upon our journey. Due to the fact that time is distorted and we are seeing there dead bodies as we find them. This seems supported based on the fact that of NPCs we have the pleasure of killing when they are hollow that their armor is directly nearby.

This has some interesting implications regarding the final resting places of some of the characters.

This also implies that characters that must be killed to obtain the armor of, such as Solaire, according to the fully completed canon story do not "have" to die being that their fate isn't automatically generated for us as we go through the game.

    I'm not sure about this.
A good exemple is that in the devs Prepare to Die edition walkthrough they kill Artorias and say his armor will be somewhere else. If the armor is not found in a chest but in a corpse, we can't say that where we find NPCs items is where they died.

Well bosses are really a different case. Due to the fact that we aren't actually wearing the boss armor, but we find differently scaled versions from DownHall. And I doubt Artorias is going to be our size, so the version we find is probably there for gameplay reasons just so players can use it, like the other boss armors.

Its really odd how the bodies do show up, considering that they are all undead and should technically repsawn over and over never technically dieing.

I've always found it odd that Havel's armour and weapons are in a secret basement. I mean, I know his armour is used not just by himself, but also his warriors, however, the Dragon Tooth weapon is also there. I am assuming that this has nothing to do with lore, but just simply balancing reasons.

The Undead are actually either "alive" or just a mass of energy that has managed to become "solid".

If they are actual "zombies" there is absolutely NO REASON bleed, poison, or drowning should affect them. They shouldn't need to breath, and as such their circulatory system should NOT be working.

I was pointing out the fact that they should respawn at bonfires, not simply fall down when they die.

My point remains valid! They either are still alive, or they don't even HAVE bodies anymore!

Something I've often wondered about myself.

Maybe they go so far hollow that they are still alive on the ground, just unable to move and make it back to a bonfire.

perhaps we see their bodies because they weren't undead. not all humans are undead right?

I think it's something like the curse statues the undead leave behind the first time they are cursed. When they die (maybe for the first time), some undead might leave a corpse in the place they die. I blame time distortion.

The Problem with that is that the armor is on a corpse, and the NPC's can't ressurect and leave a body behind. The undead are actually still alive. They bleed, they are affected by poison, they can drown. This can ONLY happen if they are alive.

Well could we assume hollowing = game over man! No more respawning at the bonfire? Because you are no longer undead but a hollow? They lose their way and the warmth of the bonfire becomes lost to them as well?

I really like what Rudmed said although when you rest all the hollow enemies come back but that could just be a game mechanic

Those are a dime-dozen hollows that come back. We're talking about character hollows (Crestfallen warrior, Rhea, etc.) they don't come back when they die. They stay dead.

But we know at least something must happen. Because the Witch set and the Black Iron set and various others can only have come from undead we met previously.
