Strategy vs. Halberds (&Spears)

Hey ya'll I've been doing a lot of PvP lately. I'm a pretty aggressive player, probably like most PvPers. When someone pulls out a polearm, it really seems to give me fits.

I'm using a straight sword build that I normally run with no poise. Is there any hope for me to get in on them long reach weapons? What are your strategies in general for your build?

Get close and roll through their attack and bs them, its lame but it's the easiest thing to do. If you have a quality build that pull out a spear or another halberd since there pretty awesome, if they only attack once at max range and roll out ist gonna be hard to counter it since their reach is so long but it's doable. Also a xbow or a bow will work too.

while locked on, circle strafe counter clockwise and they will miss more often than not on a standard poke/thrust, counter attack at your leisure.

Sprint at them with your shield up. You can cover ground quickly and stay defended.

When someone is losing a fight and change tatics, switch to a spear and starting poking and rolling, I get really mad. Usually end up using all my pyro/miracle/sorcery, backstab or any other rage move

If you can't beat em, join em!

This is why I advise always keeping a ranged weapons at the ready. Use a composite bow and poison arrows and stay well outside their reach.
