    Post by sure-magicians Sat Jan 26, 2013 7:04 am

Hey everyone, I have made a new character, I'm going for level 100 for now, currently at 92, my question is about the weapon.
I can switch the Silver Knight Shield for a Crest and add a bow if need be.

It's probably not the best build, but for me it works for now, the high HP helps me survive while I'm still learning to fight...

The Washing Pole will cost me 8 points and the Iaito 6, or even the Chaos Blade, or just stick with the Uchi and put the rest in vitality?
Are any of these better then the Uchi, other then personal preference?

As always, comments and advice are very welcome!

They're all arguably better than the uchi. The washing pole has reach, the chaos blade is stronger and the iaito can deadangle with its r2s.

It still pretty much comes down to preference.

Don't use the Chaos Blade with your build, your Dex isn't high enough to make it worthwhile.

I can't vouch for the others.

Right, sorry, I assumed you were more experienced than you are.

You lose 200 hp but your defenses are better and your damage output nearly doubles (1300 damage is just about the most somebody is going to manage with a bs, unless they've buffed and are using a heavy weapon, so you're well into the safe range there)

I'm far from experienced, but I'm already at 92 sadly, so it seems I have messed up again... This game needs soulsucker for the likes of me.

I could take it to 120 like this:
    120

One other thing, if you don't mind, you say the damage output nearly doubles, how do I see this?
I went by the numbers in the calculator, but obviously I'm missing something here.

And thank you for the replies...

Becaus elemental weapons do 2 damage types, and so must go through 2 defenses, where regular weapons only have to go through 1.

650 ar (the number the calculater shows) on an elemental weapon even out to about 300 damage a hit, where 650 pure physical amounts to about 475 a hit (after armor in both cases).

Realisticly, a lightning uchi would manage 150-200 damage per hit most of the time, where the regular uchi averages about 300 in my experience.

Rule #1 of buildmaking: decide on the weapons you want to use before making the build.

OK thank you for your explanation, I should go for the 120 then, and raise dexterity to 40?
Make it 120 instead of 100?

Yeah ok, I have decided on the weapon, just not sure what's most effective, and I don't want to start over again... I'm new to this so I'm bound to make mistakes.
I'll stick to your rule next time but I would like to try and save this one for now.

If you'd like. There's plenty of 120 pvp around and you won't be gimped anymore either.

Either Uchi or Iaito are good choices (elemental of course). And, don't beat yourself up, just because you didn't maximize every stat and create a perfect build.

Ok one final question then, and sorry for all the questions but should I stick with elemental, keep both strength and dex as they are (14/14) and go for SL 100, or raise dexterity to 40 and go for level 120 with a +15?

Is either choice better then the other?

The 120 is better (by virtue of 20 extra levels) but either way you'll be a high hp/low damage build so how you will need to play to win won't change. I'd go 100 just to avoid all the dex/faith and dex/int hybrids that dominate the 120 pvp scene.
