Completely ignore Frampt after you get the Lordvessel then go to the New Londo ruins and kill the Four Kings.

You can also do it before slaying Ornstein and Smough. Only req for kaathe to appear is to defeat the four kings before placing the lordvessel. So you could technically do it before even beating the Gargoyles/Quelaag.

Really? I always thought you had to HAVE the lordvessel, then defeat the 4 kings. Hmmmm learning all the time.

It's not "sealed by the Great Lord's power" so, technically, you can take them on at any time. I usually just do it after Anor Londo anyway, because there's little advantage to doing it beforehand. Unless, that is, if you want to grief.

There are two ways to get the key to drain the water to fight the 4 kings.
1) Get the lordvessal then talk to that guy. I think this is what From wants the players to do.
2) Kill that guy.

Ingward won't voluntarily give you the Key to the Seal unless you have the Lordvessel, but you can also just kill him to get it. You can even kill him without going into the ghost house using arrows and you will auto-acquire the key.
Other than that, you just need the Covenant of Artorias from killing Sif to fight the Four Kings and get to Kaathe.
