    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_football

    and

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football

They are both essentially the same game, but with different rules that ones has to follow. One also caries greater risk towards deforming and scaring injury (im looking at you rugby, you and your torn off ears) Which one would your rather play, or is in your eyes more manly?
found a video of rugby injuries, whats the worse an american footballer has gotten? a concussion? some torn tendons?

Screw both of them. American Football can't be played in the UK, and Rugby is just rough. Not my things at all.

The NFL hosts one game in London per year actually.

Here's five that ended careers. Mostly spinal injuries....
And Joe Theismann, which I linked the video in our other discussion that was derailing the N. Korea thread.

    Football injuries

I've also seen similar to Theismann's leg happen to a good number of other players, including two very similar injures to Buffalo's current starting Center Eric Wood. There are not supposed to be joints between the knee and ankle but...well....ouch.

Paul Posluszy broke his arm equally bad. Mangled fingers, lost ear chunk.....

I wanna say though, at least when I was in college, most studies concluded that Cheerleading had the most injuries per person in any competitive sport.

Well, I meant by that, you can't just replace football with the american version officially without the NFL's permission. But, some of those injuries look damn nasty.

My friend showed me that. Pretty goddamn horrible. I'm glad I'm not a girl, or I would have done that in High School.

Are there 300+ pound guys in rugby who can run the 40 in under 5 seconds and bench press automobiles? Then the lack of pads might be a relevant comparison winking

and marathon runners participate in their sport for way longer than either

on the first pic I believe that kid is playing what we would call "catch" in 'Murica

    Rugby is for real men

    </logic>
They are both dumb sports, one of them is also ridiculously dangerous for no reason

Once i heard about a guy who played for New Zealand, who lost 4 teeth and got his :mask-sack: ripped by an opponent's shoe

He held his bolas in place while walking to the nearest bench to have their precious protective patch of skin stitched back in place, without drugs, and then kept on playing until he was hit on the head hard enough to leave him concussed for the rest of the match

    EDIT: Wayne Shelford

F*cking savage games, both of them. But, I can easily say American Football is the lesser of the two evils.

Same with football. Repeat concussions are the biggest concern

Was forced to play rugby in school and live down the road from the Munster stadium so I hate rugby. On injuries, I sh*t you not, I once saw a guy in the Ruck take a fork out of his sock and jam it into a guys ***, seen bad crap happen in a Ruck.
Definitely more time on the field in rugby and everyone gets to play the ball. Always preferred American footy , its very tactical almost chess like.

I declare Serious_much the winner of this thread.

Oh and Wayne Sheilford aka Buck Sheilford is a national hero here in New Zealand, people still hold up 'bring back Buck' signs at rugby games. Even though he hasn't played in over 20 years. He is a real man.
