Server Maintenance

"The DARK SOULS online game servers will be going through a periodical maintenance update. Please refer to the timetable below for specific times:

*Note - This maintenance update will take place over an approximate 24hr period.

North America: May 8th beginning at 6:00pm PDT
Japan: May 9th beginning at 10:00am JST
Europe : May 9th beginning at 3:00am CET

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we perform this periodical maintenance and update to the DARK SOULS online game servers."

Just thought people might want to know why they may be unable to connect at times. Perhaps they'll be fixing the flickering while they are at it.

Oh you mean the servers going up/down, among other things.

Well possibly even when certain ones are going through maintenance, they might have portions available, or depending on how the system exactly works as an American I'll just use the closest available server in Europe until my servers are back up. Likely though there will be tons of connection problems on those days and people will probably be facing people from very different places than they may be used to.

If emergence wants to sure, though maybe I should cut out the Groucho.

That's what I'm hoping, because I'm not entirely sure why they would be doing it otherwise. Though it would be interesting if perhaps they can also find some issues and touch up the performance of their servers and possibly reduce lag overall, but that's just me being a dreamer.

North America may currently be down. It is down for Demon's Souls, so I can't use my NA Demon's Souls copy. I can use my other online games, now to check Dark Souls.

Well for me all connections are currently terrible with tons of failures, standing at SL120 for 20 minutes straight I've gotten zero invasions, though fog gates constantly drop. I've even used dried finger. Summoning is also really terrible for me currently and I'm mostly seeing Japanese names. Those I connect to are usually lagging like hell from my perspective, since I think I may be connected to the Japanese Dark/Demon's Souls Server.

By the way people my findings may be totally wrong and I'm just having the most suspicious internet issues I've run across. If someone else can check these things it would help me out.

Getting a lot Japanese opponents at the time of your posting is fairly common at that time (even more so a little later). Did you ever sign out? I signed out at some point around that time and couldn't sign back in because of PSN maintenance. I had a similar experience when the patch came out. I was already on when it came out, so eventually I ended up being basically the only person in the world trying to pvp on the 1.07 patch. It wouldn't explain the 'false alarm fog walls' or laggy connections with Japanese players but neither of those are terribly uncommon...

Hm, demons online was also down. They also have 3 Server (NA, EU, Asia)....that are the same server.
Probably only operation system upgrade or hardware change...

Possibly, maybe they are wanting to test multiplayer functionality of Dark Souls 2 in development and need a way to connect to the servers so they can test things out for the game.

Either case since it should be over now I'll message Emergence to Un-sticky is.
