suggestion please

Hi,
well what I need is suggestions for the best way to defeat Artorias,
boy is he tough, so please try and help me out here folks

What system and SL are you on?

What problems are you facing? What's always been important when fighting Artorias for me was learning how to dodge every single attack. After that, I learned which attacks left him wide open after dodging. It's mostly the long-range attacks that do this, so keep your distance and try to trick him into using these. The best moves to attack after are the really high jump, the dash-stab and the spinning dash-slash.

^This contributes a lot.

You also want to stagger him out of the Dark Charge.

I am using PS3, at soul level 180, and I have all equipment available,

Bleh, I'd solo him for you so you can see how to do it, but I'm on Xbox with nothing in that level range.

SL180, damn, that's a bit high for co-op. If you want co-op help I might be able to MM a character for you, but even then it'd take a while because I still need to get to the DLC area.

Using melee instead of magic seems to work better for me. For some reason he's really good at dodging magic with me

I have tried electric, and fire, useless they are, so yep, pure strength I think, and I will let you know how I get on,

He has pretty high defences, so I would indeed suggest high, pure damage. Great Combustion worked well for me.

You have to learn dodging his moves.
And if you plan on tanking him or blocking him, you must interrupt him when he buffs (he will almost always roll away twice when he's about to buff), if you do let him buff, all you'll get is a middle finger to your shield and armor, and death. (does not apply if he can't hit you at all ofc)

You can get there within an hour if you really wanted too with MM. It confuses you afterwards tho tryin' to remember wut u did lol.
Also at 180, wut build is your toon? If you're having that tuff a time I've beaten him with homing magic and soul spears. That is assuming you are set up that way

I'd suggest using long range attacks- sorcery ideally

I killed him at SL100 on NG+ using just CSS and SS, worked pretty damn well IMO

When I use magic against him, I like to be right next to him. You can circle him, cast, and repeat.

If you want to use magic from a distance, you need to time it so he stays in one spot long enough for your spell to reach him.

Remember, always dodge to the right.
Also, with a greatshield and a BKGA, you can easily block his attacks and counter them with a single hit. This method is far less epic then dodging his attack and run in for a counter, though.
Remember to have a precise bow with you (preferably black bow of Pharis), as a clean headshot will prevent him from powering up himself.

You are quite welcome.

If you have the strength to wield it, the Giant Shield+10 will completely block his normal attacks. I wear light armor that is strong in Magic defense. Painted World outfit works well.

I've started to use this shield to run up to him to protect another player so they have the time to heal.
