The bow is for people who run out of pyro range. The only solid way that I know of to counter the bow is to rush it, so it brings 'em back in close. The shield is for parries and then GC. It's AWESOME. Dusk Crown+Bellowing+critical damage hits about as hard as a weapon parry would. Went with the BK shield because it has the 2nd highest stability and looks way cooler than SK shield. So I can roll around a bunch and still be able to setup parry if I need to.

i like how you added a bow. i was trying to think of how to incorporate a bow w/o taking away a shield(dark hand or other) or lose my weapon. i really like that idea, i might test it out a bit. heres what i was going to try, but having two pyro gloves is just so bad ***. and you have to be able to parry. http://tinyurl.com/7uxy6bn

I figured if I ran out of casts I would just menu swap the bow for a melee weapon. And if you're going for a pyro build, you just have to have two gloves. That's how you let people know you're not effing around. And I've tried the Pharis bow in PvP, but the draw is too slow. Composite has the fastest draw time. Build is at 112 right now. Just a little further and **** is going down.

i agree, i could use both and just switch to pharis when im shooting from a distance. i started my pyro toon over cause for w.e reason i thought putting 15 int would be helpful :|. im going to try and see if i can manage with JUST chaos pyro spells. two casts of chaos fire whip,chaos fireball, and chaos firestorm. imagine if there was chaos combustion, that would be so deadly. i think im going to go with the one handed glove for now and switch to your set up(well similar) if i dont like it.

lol everyone really does have pyro fever in the forums. i decided about a month ago that dex/pyro builds were by far my favorite type of builds so ive been using almost only pyro based toons. i am tempted to make a pure mage tho. i am not very good with int spells so i want to improve, especially with those pics from dlc that look like new magic.

+1 Nice build. It probably beats out my SL 79 build (see signature). It's my only PvP build, and it's for invading. But, long range halberd? Short range combustion? Two tempests?! Amazing.

PS. Two tempests is worth a crazy amount. I highly recommend it. When you pull out that second one after the first... it's perfect. They rarely expect another. Even if they dodge the first. Just go to your bow, and try again if their back is to a wall.

Been PvPing on it for about an hour now and it's actually much harder to use nothing but pyro casts than I had previously anticipated. I think it's just a playstyle I'll have to get used to. I got whipped with my pure mage a bunch at first, but I started picking up on it and now it's beast. Hoping Rowdy goes the same way.

@Fruit--Just discovered why you need gloves in both hands. If you're going melee, you can still cast with left hand. If your shield is out, you can still cast with right. Just got my first parry to GC on a Zwei. 700+damage, and a serious feeling of awesome.

a key part of using pure pyro is learning how to throw great fb and chaos fb unlocked. at least for me. also if you use fire surge, if you just tap r1 the ball of fire will float and if you can time it right you can hit opponents for very little dmg, but its fast and has decent range. that works much better then just unloading with it.

edit:remember you can two hand your pyro glove and block, it can be useful against bow users. well done, i love parrying someone then hitting them with some pyro

I can go CB if I use the Grass shield, but like three of my other builds use that setup and I'm really tired of always saying eff it and going back to what I know. Been using +15 BSS actually, and it's just as good as everyone says it is. Haha. Really needed a high stability medium shield because the stamina pool is fairly shallow, and I hate the way the SK shield looks.

LOL, I've been debating on a pyro build myself. Trying to decide backup weapons though.

IMO, I don't like bows in PvP. Other than that, it looks good.

I was using fire arrows with it. Wanted to stick with the whole fire theme. And I actually ended up swapping the bow for a +15 BSS. You just HAVE to be able to melee sometimes.

And one more thing. 8 slots is completely unnecessary. I could have easily gone with six. In a duel where people aren't running away to heal, you don't need fifty pyro casts. If it were an invasion build, it'd be different. I'm almost tempted to redo the build with 23 att and 40 end.

More fire tempests and both chaos spells should fill it up nicely.

The problem with tempest is that it rarely hits and it adds another slot to toggle through. Probably the hardest part of using this build is trying to switch to the cast you want while you're trying to dodge or block or melee. The more slots you have to toggle through, the harder it is.

2 tempests, 2 grear fireballs, 2 gc, 2 firestorms.

You want to have at least one Great Chaos Fireball and Great Fireball. This will add depth. Toss a couple GF, get them comfortable. Then, use a GCFB - surprise them with the lava.

The best combo I've found is GCF and then Chaos Fire Whip right after. Earlier I had a GCF direct impact for over 1000 damage, then he stood in the lava while I Fire Whipped. Over 2000 damage in about three seconds.

chaos fire whip is the only chaos spell you can get multiple times i believe. im not sure if the chest is empty in ng+, im about to find out with the pure pyro im working on. was going to try and attempt a pure chaos servant build. black hemmed,dual +5 pyro gloves,chaos pyro only. it would be a challenge, despite the power of them.
