He didn't betray them, he didn't do as they asked. He is a true dm, and he hunts the guilty both inside and outside the PW, The crossbreed offered him a place to live if he wished, if he would refrain from killing fellow LH in the PW and protect her. He does both of those things, what he doesn't do is put his queen at risk by attacking unprovoked under the LH banner, bring the wrath of others to the pw.SunlightCrusader wrote:No no no I'm attacking your LH for claiming to be a true DM while serving your queen and then betraying the LH leadership.... oh nevermind. *Sigh* I was looking forward to that debate too...

"A traitor he is not. He serves the queen and places her life and the life of his troops before the orders of the Hand. I'll not tolerate you insulting him further. What business do you have here? You are no Lifehunter. Explain quickly, I am not patient."DoughGuy wrote:"Well well well he sleeps well for a traitor, doesn;t he Raven?" A man im a hooded mask emerges from nearby.

"He breeds loyalty in you well. That you would challenge someone who could make it into your inner sanctum undetected. Why does he not show the same loyalty to his leader? Whether the hand was right or wrong Etraiu was pledged to follow him."

"Servitude means many things. He does serve, he does not blindly follow orders. Hi actions in the war with the knights and again as an emissary to the Darkstalkers have ensured the safety of my lady from both, even if only temporarily. I trust him because he has risked his life for me several times and trained me for many months. Now, tell me who you are. I won't ask a third time."

"Names. All of Lordran obssessed with my name. Yet none are willing to pay the price. Be glad you do not know it yet Raven. And be even glader your master does not."
He chuckles as he blends back into the shadows, leaving the room.

"My master is far beyond your abilities. As am I for that matter."
She supresses the urge to grin at the thought of the poisoned knife she had knicked him with when he first appeared, but Etraius slightly raised eyebrow said he had seen it as well. The man probably wouldn't die, but he wouldn't feel very well for a few days, assuming of course that he hadn't noticed.
Etraiu stood, and placed his sword across his back, popping his neck as he did so.
"You are relieved lieutenant, go home to your sister."
"But I still have an hour left, and you're still recovering."
"I'll be fine" he said, warmed by her concern, though it did not show except in the wording of his next sentence.
"I am more than capable of standing guard here. You never know which meeting will be your last, so treasure the time you have."
"Now go home, its an order Raven" he interrupted as she opened her mouth to protest again.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
Eidolas wiped the poison off his cuff. The blade not penetrating the thick fabric. Amateurs he thought, they assume we would send amateurs into this place. He looked down to see the girl leaving the building. He considered paying her a visit but decided he didnt need to make his abilities known yet. Enough for them to think he was gone for now. Knowing he was watched he dropped the letter where he stood before slipping away.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
lol. Im finding the hard part is everyone's writing as if their toon is the best of the best. Which makes for very convoluted writing, as we just had.
But no, I wouldnt actually use the build against Etraiu, its really not suited for a fight against him.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
I try not to. Raven isn't even a build, she's just a character. My actual builds are good because I'm good, but their not the best. Just well above average, which holds true to my own skill, as I quite frequently win against sl 70-90 characters without taking damage at all.
If I were describing a fight between billys dark lord or spurs scythe dragon and Etraiu or Hihime it would be really heated and close

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
Well the builds I have characters for are all high ranking and as Im only average at pvp its hard to represent them accurately. But this dude is a master of stealth and espionage which is why he had to find the poison, since really he wouldnt have been poisoned in the first place.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
All my builds are stealthers. Its just less hiding themselves and more hiding their actions or intent in combat.
If I actual break line of sight in a fight, the next time I'm seen someone dies.
I want to build for the ROF and Hring, but it means being stunlocked by the ever present claymore and makes me useless in a real fight.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
Why? chameleon doesn't ever work on anyone who knows the terrain, and it means I have to wait for them somewhere. As a host sure, but it doesn't seem really viable as an invader.
I am considering an archer as well. Not bowdragon, archer. DSGB, composite bow, rof, medium or light armor. Outright refuse to fight. Lol, chameleon might actually benefit me there.

Something like that. Menu swap a rapier and the hring if necessary.

I can write out Etraiu and Hihimes first meeting if you want to know their fighting styles so you can write about any encounters your characters may have with them? Let you describe a super epic match should either fight oscar 1 on 1.

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
- Spoiler:
- It was a clear warm afternoon in Catarina. The banners of the great grey arena cast long shadows over the polished stone stands. Hundreds of cheering commoners were overlooked by a lavishly decorated and upraised section, which contained The announcers table and around a dozen noble families who were placing numerous substantial wagers and happily bragging about the performance of their sponsored entrant in the days tournament.
The arena grew quiet as numerous brass horns sounded.
"Ladies and Gentlemen" cried the announcer in a voice that could rattle windows.
"We are at the final match of the contest. The first finalist is no noble, but a commoner using a borrowed zweihander and fighting for the money rather than honor. It's Etraiu!" The crowed roared as he entered the dirt arena wearing a tattered breast plate and similarly scarred greaves and arm guards, his long black hair in a ponytail so it would stay out of his eyes. Whispers of disapproval could be heard among the cheers, it was rare commoners competed in this arena as few were skilled enough to qualify.
"The second finalist is a noble lady hailing from Astora, using a stange curved sword and a mysterious magic from the great swamp, please welcome Naomi Adime!" Again the crowed went wild, her form fitting scale armor and sword gleamed in the days light. Her rare purple hair and strange fighting style had made her very popular.
"Begin" called the announcer as the combatants took up their stances.
Etraiu advanced slowly, the zweihanders blade resting in one hand, so the blade was perpindeciluar to his body. Naomi circled for a second, her right shoulder turned towards her opponent, the blade positioned to deflec an incoming blow, then she charged, stabbing at his exposed stomach. Etraiu threw the blade upwards, keeping the other hand firmly on the hilt, deflecting the attack. He stepped in as fire erupted from her other hand, heating the back of his head, and punched her squarely in the stomach, bloodying his knuckles and pushing the breath from her lungs. He stepped back quickly and ducked to avoid a second blast of fire. They circled for another few seconds before she charged again, this time swinging down and across his body. He stopped the blow with his upturned blade and spun away from a third attempt to char him, whipping his sword around in a horizontal sweep aimed at her midsection. She jumped over the swinging blade, then brought her own down at his head. He blocked with the hilt of his sword, now in his right hand, the end buried in the ground behind his right shoulder. Again he stepped forward, this time planting his right leg directly behind hers and shoving with the hilt of the sword. She landed flat on her back and found him straddling her using his knees to pin her arms, with the blade of his zweihander now resting in his left hand, just above her neck.
"OH, would you look at that!?" bellowed the announcer over the clamor of the crowd.
"The commoner has won, some of the finest noblemen and women in Catarina gathered here today to prove their worthiness for knighthood and none could stand before a commoner! I see a bright future for this young man, a very bright future indeed"
And right he was for a time, Etraiu was hired as a bodyguard for Naomi, recieving formal arms training and being gifted high quality weapons and armor and spent several years in the service of the Adime family as they traveled, becoming a trusted servant and eventual suitor for his charge.
If it wasn't apparent, Naomi is Hihimes actual name, and she is fond of attacking with the katana to distract the opponent so she can hit with pyromancy, she also uses ranged magic to control the range but she didn't lean those spells until lordan. Etraiu is as likely to punch or tackle as he is swing his weapon in a 1v1 fight. His weapon is also his shield and he uses it like one, quite often switching hands, trapping weapons or limbs and bashing with the hilt.
I won't lie, this was a lot of fun to write, hope I got the point across
Playstation. Typing that out with a controller took forever.

Also nice lore forum. I'd love to hear how Etraiu got so sour....
I have needs to Letos as he is my favourite character ive ever written. Stay tuned I want it done tonight.
Though that wont happen as I wrote his tale as a twelve part serial....

Re: The Lore of the Covenants
I feel like the fight wasn't detailed enough considering that the point was to describe their fighting styles, but I spent an hour and a half writing the like 4 paragraphs that is, so I didn't go further in describing everything.
Edit: He was always sour. He grew up with a father who left when he was 4 or 5, so trust issues abound. His sourness is a combination of pragmatism, the trust issues, and general dislike of other people. He's not sour with those he trusts in a social context.
