Re: Life without the DWGR.
if you know how to do the surprise r1 anyone can fall for it, ive fallen for it too(EVERYONE makes mistakes and i mistake like that is really costly because of the amount of damage) and the greataxes rolling attack with med roll actually works pretty good, sometimes youre opponent wont expect arolling a tack with med roll and the rolling atack of the greataxes comes out of nowhere since its pretty fast for a weapon like that. i just dont like it when people say that certain weapons are inferio when they havent practiced with them enough or just doont feel like practicing and get better at them which is like 90% of the pvp'ers cause they just tend to go with dex since it s a lot easier to master.

Re: Life without the DWGR.
It's harder except in the case of parries for roll R1's. I'm used to the fast roll R1. The little extra time would probably throw me off.

that's what i mean, the med roll would throw everyone off since they wont be used to it, of course they will adapt right away but you can always delay your hits.

The first one they fall for is 500+ damage. Pretty good edge.

Re: Life without the DWGR.
I would use the exact same build, since most of my builds are medium roll builds.

Re: Life without the DWGR.
My two main FC builds are actually a mid-roller and a fat-roller. Both have preformed well, and I think more people should try dropping their DWGR for something else. Making builds without the DWGR is a lot more interesting.

Re: Life without the DWGR.
Although i agree with all of you that the normal rolls are "better", DWGR is clearly the best way to go. It allows for so many more stats to be used(unless you mid roll), and personally i think that flips make roll bs a lot easier. You're just able to turn your character more easily since they are basically always standing. After playing a decent amount of Demon's Souls I pray they go back to not having the flip ring, or at the very least make it so ANY armor with poise can not be worn while wearing it. Meaning only 40 poise is possible with flip ring, and that requires two ring slots. That is how it should have been in the first place.....

Demon's souls style
Light armor and light roll
Or heavy armor and heavy roll
That simple

Re: Life without the DWGR.
^ i agree, but the flip ring originally seemed like a cool idea(for the first min. or so) until you ran into a flipping tank. If they were just not allowed any poise from armor that would fix a whole lot of the problems. I know people have suggested making it have a dex req., but i personally think thats a horrible idea after realizing that would just be yet another benefit for using a dex build.

Fixed that for you. No one used heavy armor in demons unless they wanted to die horribly when a mage or heavy weapon user showed.Carphil wrote:Demon's souls style

Re: Life without the DWGR.
True, but demons souls didn't have poise. I think we all know there's no real benefit to debating this, but forums were designed for discussions like this.

Re: Life without the DWGR.
I agree with Forum on the med roll thing about great axes and great hammers. About the medium roll, my personal opinion is that I hate the damn thing. Even for PvE, medium roll for me is so slow, I prefer to fat roll, really. I once fought a guy at the Burg using a Washing Pole and medium roll, I would say he was slow, I clearly had the advantage with the flip, and with less sprinting speed than the fast roll, I can say medium roll is just not viable for dueling. He was very offensive, but he just couldn't reach me, his roll R1s were slow and predictable, I don't know. But then I was roll backstabbed by a medium roll once....yeah

Or to be less complicated, they could simply make the ring cut your poise value by 50% or something when you wear it. Seems like it would be less troubling in terms of programming and less confusing to a player trying to equip it.

Well, I was talking about PVE as well, did you never used heavy armor PVEing in Demon's?
If DWGR makes PVP easy, imagine PVE. Nothing hits you, ever. Its kind of invicibility hack for me

Re: Life without the DWGR.
I dont think it would be over complicated. Maybe have the description just say "allows one to have fast roll/flip while wearing light armor" of course have it sound cooler and more souls/fromsoft ish. i guess you could wear stuff like eastern leggings ext but that would still leave you under 53 poise.
