Hellkite Dragon

This stupid thing killed me!

lols there is an easy way to kill it, frmo the stairs shoot it when it jumps down 2 hand your weapon hit it twice then leg it down stairs

Thanks, I mean it's killed me in PvE multiple times, but I'm complaining because it killed me in PvP. While I was invading. In the world of another.

I was just casually strolling down the bridge thinking that the enemies in this foreign world couldn't harm me, when, to my surprise, I get blasted with a face full of fire and one-shotted. :x

I don't get how that dragon works.
Sometimes it one shots me, other times it hardly hurts me.

It's the worst thing in the game, as far as I'm concerned.

The hellkite dragon is the strongest boss in this game. I mean if it wasn't restricted to that bridge it would be decimating everyone.

The dragons breath does very little damage if you are standing still. Approximately 100 damage total to an unarmored nude ******* at level 10.
The dragons breath however hits for 250 damage on a 'counter' blow.
The dragons breath hits multiple times if your poise is above 10.
The dragons breath hits multiple times if you have poise and get hit on a counter blow.
The dagons breath does more damage when your back is turned, a natural backstab.

The maximum damage the breath attack can do is 1704 damage in NG1

Is he flying ACROSS the bridge for that breath attack?
It's weaker.

Do you get knocked down? As Rynn has mentioned, poise does some strange things with regards to this enemy's breath attack?

Also it does more damage the closer you are to it's source.

to kill dragon easy, go under bridge, kill three rats. stand outside door to the three rats. shoot dragon neck/head while having rtsr engaged(or with dragonslayer bow). dragon fly's away, comes back, rinse lather repeat. it cannot heal if you keep shooting it cuz it will do the bridge run then land again.

Really 0.o I saw that around at least a week or two ago... I dont know if it was the same user but it seems kinda likely...

the hellkite also has variations on the breath attack ones a side to side sweep (lo dmg) an up and down head swing breath(med/high dmg) and finally the flame pillar breathing fire directly below him then raising his head and swinging the beam over the length of the bridge, did 2500 damage to a hollow warrior in regular game, acidic cook has experience against the hellkite in melee, maybe he can give you some pointers if thats how you want to do it.

Stopped trying now

I still remember on my 4th or 5th build when he jumped off the bridge because life wasnt worth it while I was in the lower burg.

I think you should keep doughboys avatar and wander around the forums singing the praises of the darkwraiths and delcaring co op pointless
as for the hellkite I can see it being awful on anything past NG, so I have not tried.
