So I remade my build for sl 99 and I think it came out pretty good, it's does about 1k on a riposte no hr, since 53 poise doesn't matter much since gs are slower its gonna be so easy to toggle out I went with 47 since I can take two hits of a katana 1h and one hit 2h it's more than I need. http://tinyurl.com/97kkcps

Re: velka mage
velkas should be swapped on a mlgs build.
you can swap velkas with it.
you don't really need dex with velkas either.

Re: velka mage
Mlgs is garbage if you go up against a decent player, so easy to parry and even the r2 can be parried. I never like it I tried it but it wasn't for me, those extra 30 ar is worth it for those crits plus you get faster casting too.

Re: velka mage
You will get sunlocked by muras though, so be extra careful when you see one. Unless they're 1h it.
Clicky - Now you actually look like one of Velkas mages, and you still have 47 poise. The hollow soldier waistcloth wont show from under the robe.

Re: velka mage
mlgs is as hard to parry as any other greatsword..?
it's got basically the same moveset minus the r2s.
and yeah i mean you CAN parry the mlgs's r2.. and partial parry the blast.. but like how did u get yourself as the mlgs user into the position where that r2 is parryable haha?
maybe the weapons just not for you. i've had tons of success with the thing and i never seem to get parried when i break lock and use the r1 string to the left and right of the player.

Re: velka mage
I've never really learned how to parry greatswords, i can parry almost everything else though .
In my opinion, the MLGS isn't garbage. It stunlocks like a beast, does a lot of damage and is fast, plus the r2 let you punish flaskers. I don't really use it a lot though, mostly because i don't like int builds.

Re: velka mage
when i use it i treat the r2 like its a gcf or use it on wakeup.
the r2 blast hits behind u if it's right at your feet to hit someone going for a backstab too.
it's basically a claymore tho.

Re: velka mage
@spur that's what toggling out is for and for weapons with phantom hits like muras spears and mlgs (that thing is so laggy if your opponent bring more lag than usual) and it's more of a Velma's rapier build and I love he way that set up looks on my girl.
@ rif. The r2 is so easy to punish bs from my experience against it and they all unlock, it might be just me but I find gs th easiest weapons to parry with my heater shield or any shield with a parry. The few times I haven't been able to parry them is when they're REALLY good but my trusty short bow still kicked they're ***.

Re: velka mage
the same guy with the mlgs can pull out a mlbh, velkas or magic composite bow to adapt to your short bow. not to mention they'll have sorcs too and the 1h r2*typo can peg u if you've got your bow out.
sorry i'm arguing about something u don't want to use. ill get back on topic.
have u considered trying to get some more endurance?

Re: velka mage
Th only time I use a bow is when I'm far enough to not get hit by anything or to lure a bs to counter it and I can also two hand a mlbh. And btw you will get parried if you're close enough even if you unlock, I do it all the time but lately I nerve do it since most people just don't attack at all and all they do is bs and nothing else.

Re: velka mage
well i mean a whiffed parry is pretty punishable by a backstab, a kick or a spell.
theres no point tho, u don't want to use it.
have you considered dropping anything for endurance tho?

Re: velka mage
I have enough endurance for four rolls and more than enough for my bow and magic doesn't need end and velkas rapier is for going in once and coming back out and crits. Damn that was a lot of ands.

Re: velka mage
Rant, Velka's gets 1 AR per Dex, definitely not worth it. The CSS speed only increase by a small % with 45 Dex. I would lower Dex to minimum and increase Vit/End. For poise 42 is enough for a rapier.

Re: velka mage
imo it's worth for the crits dude, 30 ar more may not seen like a lot but from what I've smough it matter for crits, consistently 1k in damage with no hr.

Re: velka mage
In that case, consider 45 Dex and more CSS.

Re: velka mage
I'm too lazy to go to ng+, I cont need really powerful spells since I swap to rtsr when in low vit and I just use my short bow which is so much easier to land a hit with but the new spells might change, if I do end up getting the dlc that is.

Re: velka mage
I was wondering how you could pump so many stats at 99, then I realized that you have 9 End. I always imagined a "Velka" build to be hybrid Int/Fai with sorc and miracles.
