Hey there guys, I am eventually going to get Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition and I've been browsing some builds recently for when I make my first character. Right now I'm looking for a build that works for both PvE/PvP and that a Newbie could use. Mainly because this will be my first time playing the game and I'll have no clue what to do. PvE I've always been good at however in PvP I am just awful. That is why I'm looking for a PvE/PvE build me as a newbie could use so I can gain experience over time and eventually become good enough so that way I can join PvP fests to have fun. I have already read the PvP rules and guide lines. If anyone comes across a good build or somehow creates one I'd be grateful!

For your first time I recommend you don't do a set "build".
In fact I recommend you stay of the wiki's and the forums.
Keep as much of the game new to yourself or you'll miss an entire dimension of the game.
Once you've beaten in, then look at making some nice pvp builds or something.

I was asking mainly because I don't want to start of with a character put stats in go out of whack and he ends up dying due to poor choice of stats/weaponry. I tend to usually like to have a good idea of what I'm doing before I take action.

That's the fun. I invested in a really cooling sounding sword, it ended up sucking. But I learned and made a new character, and pwned the game!

I agree it's a good idea to not spoil too much of the game before you've gotten it (if you haven't already, I mean). Maybe just stick to your own thread and put a NO SPOILERS tag on it.
There are so many cool weapons -- both strength and dex -- I can't imagine making a first character that didn't have access to them all, so I'd suggest you consider a 40 str, 40 dex build. I've played a ton on consoles, but I wanted my main guy on the PC to have access to it all so I made an SL 200:
Vit - 50
End - 40
Att - 23 (I like to have multiple Sunlight Blade buffs available just in case)
Str - 50 (There was one new weapon I wanted to use that required 48 str. is the only reason I went over 40.)
Dex - 40
Res - 8
Int - 18
Fai - 50
It may not be what you'd call 'pvp-efficient,' but it will get the job done, and the stats make it really easy to continue through as many NG+'s as you want.

Don't put any stat over 40 and never level up Resistance, ever. Now, get off the forum and enjoy one of the best games ever made. I envy you; this game put a lot of fear into me the first time through.

Dont plan your first character,u will miss the fun of leveling just to use a certain weapon/spell you want at that moment(and of course, this causes you to make mistakes)

That's how I like to do it at first, but the op said he likes to plan ahead, so that may not be his thing.
Op, for your future PvP, if you're planning on being the invader I'd cap it at 100, but if you're going to mostly do the Arena and be the invadee, I'd go higher, like I suggested before. That's just me though. For some it isn't so important to be able to experiment with every weapon or spell.
