Most death builds have that same armor, there's been builds posted here with that same gear. I think the great scythe is perfect for a death build, more authentic.

I use the Lifehunt personally when invading as Death, but I'm not sure which is more "authentic", seeing as Death is the anthropomorphization of a concept, so whether you use the farmer's scythe or the fantasy-looking one doesn't really matter.
