Disconnecting

So I'm in Dark Anor going to the smith & get invaded. After some dancing around we go at each other, i'm a STR build using a poisoned Large Club & i swing that thing a few times & get Riposted.
He had a Hornet on so my HP is at 10-15% tops so i play it more carefully, he gets out a Man Serpent & starts to swing violently witch gives me a clean Riposte on him & as he's falling on the floor i get a "the host has disconnected" message.

Now, this happened to me 3 times yesterday & many times before, same story, the guy gets BS-d or Riposte-d & during the animation...DC.

What is he afraid of loosing ? Death ? lol, he should be used to dieing in this game

Hope some of them got a corrupted save as a result.

I used to disconnect when I played demons. Not in the middle of the fight though. When I started out I sucked so I always tried to summon guys for co op. If I got invaded I'd disconnect because I didn't want to lose my body. Now if the guy got to me I'd go down fighting.

Then I grew some balls and got decent at pvp. I stopped doing it after I beat the game the first time and actually started pvping a lot. But yeah, disconnecting in the middle of the fight after a bs is a little bs in my opinion.

I never DC-d, even when i was going through my first play through & didn't have gear or the skills.

But i can see why someone would DC when they see the Invasion message but this DC bull in the middle of a fight...

If there was a Win/Loss ratio i could see some ****** wanting to have a good Win score.

I think there was in demons, they had phantom ratings which I miss dearly. But I dont know about invaders.

I get so angry now when people disconnect. It was a huge issue dying in demons because your body was precious, but in dark souls its like "whatever I died. I farmed 99 humanity so I'll just do it again".

Was a body that precious in demon souls? I remember doing the dive in nexus after pretty much ever boss as to not mess up the whiteness of the world. once you got things straight you would die in human form to turn things black.Been a while since I have played demon souls so my memory could be cloudy.

Death seems a bit cheap in Dark Souls though. Not sure why people disco so much from being invaded. If you don't want to be invaded play off-line

dieing in demon souls felt a whole lot worse than in dark souls. it was hard to get your body back if you were new because those stones of ephemeral eyes re few and far between. and half health really hurt compared to dark souls, the only penalty dark souls has is no summoning people...

It was probably "player disconnected" or something like that...
My bad...

Methinks half of my invasions go this route, I sit through the load screens and appearance animation only to be greeted by that dastardly screen.
I had one gentleman instruct me to "stay out of his game" after doing so, the inner 12yo in me surfaced and proceeded to inquire as to what repercussions I would be facing if I chose to disobey.
Some folks have so little faith in their skills that they assume they will fail and can't handle the thought, it would appear.

But seriously, disconnecting during a fight like THAT? I don't know what it is now that the Souls series is so much more popular... So many more d-bags now than in Demon's. And from what I've seen PVPing tonight all the biggest **** are from NA, which would mean the new International system has nothing to do with it...

I've only disconnected once as a host. It was in Lost Izalith, and I was already in a foul mood due to a bunch of crazy deaths w Bed of Chaos, including one where it killed me somehow before I even got all the way down the chute. I kept getting invaded by someone who would run away and pop a humanity to heal whenever they got hurt, and then hide behind every mob they could find (including one where they shadowed that pyromancer NPC at the top of the stairs, letting her cast firestorms over and over and over). Even when I killed them, it took like 15 minutes and then I'd go get knocked into a hole by Bed of Chaos and have to start over again. Finally on the last go round when I got their invasion message I just disconnected. Then I reconnected and beat the boss so I have no regrets. I do think that at a certain point if you're acting like an abusive dbag invader it is fair to remind you who is ultimately controlling the world you're in.

Should be a 1 humanity and 1 indictment penalty for intentional disconnects

Indictments aren't a penalty as far as most people are concerned. I'm indifferent to them, and some people seek them out!

I can see how disconnecting could be annoying for the invader, but I still do it from time to time. I refuse to spend 20 minutes chasing someone all over the map just so that they can backstab me while I'm trying to deal with the mob that they're hiding behind. If they came to fight then they'll get what they're after, but I hate wasting all day chasing people around.
