Punishments for disconnecting
What would you think if Dark Souls 2 punished people if their game turned off while a hostile phantom was in their world?
For instance, if for any reason you disconnect while a hostile phantom is present, when you load your game up again your character is dead

Yes. I have never done so, and it should result in the immediate taking of human form or some equivelant

Or maybe the game can read you connection speed or if the power button has been pushed, and determine if it's caused by your bad connection or just turning off the system. Weird idea I know, just a thought.

Just put the rating system from Demon's Souls in. Disconnecting or being disconnected could also put you on the invaders hit list via the covenants. Sort of like an auto sin count. If covenants are still implemented of course.

As much as I hate people disconnecting during an invasion, there are times where the host should actually be allowed to disconnect.
Imagine if some invader is just camping at the Silver Knight Archers in Anor Londo. There is no way in hell I'm gonna go run up there to try and kill them. And I'm not exactly willing to wait for them to finally leave, after who knows how many hours, either.

Even the best internet/router/modem dies occasionally, and its not cool to punish people for things beyond their control, so I'm going to say no.

I have an idea. Seeing as how Dark Souls 2 is using servers anyway, what if they just wait 20 seconds before kicking the other players out of the host's world whenever the host disconnects? That way if it's some **** that disconnects the moment he starts losing, he's gonna lose anyway. But if the invader is the ****, waiting somewhere in a group of dangerous mobs, then the invader probably wouldn't even notice, and the 20 seconds would pass easily.

That ruins what Invading is about. When you invade, your supposed to do whatever you have to with the objective of killing the host. As such punishing the invader for using mobs to help him wouldn't be fair.

I'd really hope no one actually cares when people do that. Most of us have more humanity and souls than we even know what to do with. Don't really need anything that you'd get from killing another player, save D. Scales if you like those and that's supposed to be a duel setting in the first place. Honestly when someone d/c's you should chalk it up as a win in your book and move on.
I'm kinda biased because Bungie's inclusion of a punishment system in their recent games made it pretty stupid when people get punished for things that aren't really their fault because people know how to abuse the system.
But I still don't think we need it just because some people are pansycore and ruin it for people that have wonky, wal-mart connections.

I have no problems with the invader using some mobs to help them. Just sitting there waiting and never engaging, however...
For example, the invader finds the host fighting some mobs, and immediately gangs up with the mobs to kill the host. This sounds perfectly fine to me.
Second example, the invader has already engaged the host, but is losing so retreats into a group of mobs. The host can either follow to try and finish off the invader, or the invader gets some time to heal, possibly buff, and jump back into the fight. This sounds fine to me too.
Third example, the invader runs to the most difficult PvE encounter the moment he spawns, then waits there until the host arrives. The host is not stupid so just decides to wait for the invader to move. The invader has seen that the host isn't stupid enough to fall for this trick, but continues to wait anyway. Now the invader is just a chicken.

I honestly can not say I like this.
Instead of punishments, I believe the invader should receive the reward.

Hard to say actually. I have no idea what kind of online system they are going to use for Dark souls 2. I will voice my opinion when I learn how it will work!
