Wired VS Wireless

I've been seeing a lot of people on gaming forums and sites mention that using a wired connection, instead of the modems wi-fi, greatly reduces lag in online gaming. Has anyone tryed this and seen the difference? I can see how that might be true, but i have a pretty good modem and it is in the same room. I might get a quality Ethernet cable though if it could possible reduce lag online.

Wasn't sure if this really belonged in PvP section, but it has to due with the amount of lag im dealing with in PvP.

I'd say it depends. I never had a problem with my wireless conection, but we had xfinity so we never had lag issues because of our internet.

(not paying $100 a month for slow internet)

Yea i have verizon fios and average A-/A+ on speedtest.net, I have never had people complain about me lagging but other people seem to lag quite a bit.

I'd use wired if I happened to be close enough to my modem. It is a bit more reliable (no lag spikes or random dIsconnections), but it's not faster or anything if your wireless isn't poo.

My wireless connection is fine, and most of the time I just don't bother to go wired.

You should definitely use wired. I've never tested Dark Souls on wireless, but I played Metal Gear Online for 3+ years when it was active...started out with wireless and eventually moved to wired, and the difference was unbelievable. MGO was one of those games with a high emphasis on headshots and having as little lag as possible helped your shots connect much better. Granted Dark Souls is not a shooter, but I still think anything you can do to lessen the lag on your connection (however little there may be) is a good thing.

Helps a lot against lag and loss of packets.

I use wired exclusively. I'm sporting a 25/4 connection and still get lag.

I don't get lag except for rare cases which I guess are japanese players.
But I've no trouble playing with americans as far as I know.
