    Co-op questions Empty Co-op questions

Post by Sacae Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:05 pm

Hello, I'm new to Dark Souls. I just got it last week and been playing it addictively. Really loving it. Just got got both bells rung and killed the iron golem.

The game is hard but fun, and I want my friend to play it. But, he tried it and thought it was too hard. I found out I could help him through being summoned. I'll need to make a new character to be lower level.

Before I do that and tell him to rent it again, I got a few questions on being a phantom.

    1. Do you gain souls for killing anything or just bosses?

    2. If you die do you or the host dies, do you keep your souls or lose them?

    3. As a phantom can you pick/loot bodies/items? I know you don't get them. But, like if I do a run to go get an item - am I able to hit a and loot it so he gets the item? If that makes sense. Or do I have to lead him to it and have him loot it. Both cases I know he gets it, I know phantoms don't.

    4. The earliest I can help him out is if I go to the bridge before the dragon and get the white soapstone right? And the earliest he can summon me is when he becomes human. So, right after he gets to firelink right? Can I put a summon sign there?

    5. Can you level up at bonfires in host's game/blacksmith and repair?

    Thanks.

1: Everything, so the more you kill the more souls you get.

    2: You keep your souls.

3: No, but you can open treasure chests and doors that don't require keys.

4: The earliest you can be summoned is at the Bonfire in the burg, near the Hollow Merchant.

    5: No you cannot.

Thanks. One more question. If I get summoned there, if we leave the area am I unsummoned? Like, can we backtrack and I can show him how to get an item in firelink.

Fog walls will block you from back tracking, you'll only be able to stay within the area you are summoned. Now you can progress forwards through fog gates to the boss, but once the boss is dead you will be sent back to your world.

Also, He can only summon you in areas that has a boss that is still alive.

You can't see any pickups, so you have to remember their locations if you want to show your friend where they are located.

You can't use estus when you are a phantom, but you can use other consumable items and miracles to heal.

And when he heals with his Estus, it will heal you also. I suggest though having a heal spell so that he doesn't have to use Estus on you.

I want to be able to help him as much as I can. When is the earliest he can summon me in the areas he can summon me?

Areas with a boss nearby. As soon as he enters the area, except in a few locations. Seath I believe you have to have died to first. New Londo needs to be drained. I can't think of any other requirements off the top of my head.

    Okay, again new at this.

Me and my friend are playing together as me as a summon. We get invaded, which is normal I think right? Anyways I die, and then my friend dies. This guy was doing some ninja backstabs of some sort.

So my friend summons me again and no sooner we get invaded by the exact same person.

    How does that happen?

It's random and if he summoned you then he is human, so invasions will occur.

The invader can't pick on a single person, but an invader may end up randomly invading the same people two to three times.

If they invaded once, that means now they are connected to your friend. Thus if they invade again while your friend is human, they'll probably end up invading him again. Just as if he summoned you once, he'll more than likely be able to summon you again.

Most low level invaders have really good gear and are fairly experienced at PvP, they like to prey on new players. So be careful.

You also need the Lord Vessal for Archives, Tomb of Giants, Demon Ruins, and Lost Izalith.
