So, I think I have the basic idea down. But What exactly is, and how can I avoid these Dead Angles??

Re: A "Dead Angle"??
A dead angle is when a hit from a weapon or spell hits behind the block of the shield or it its to the side behind the block of the shield. I may be wrong however but I am pretty sure that's right. To avoid them you just gotta be careful really. Just got to watch you for when the opponent unlocks, he/she might be going for a dead angle. Muras are good for dead angles due to their wind swing. As well as other Weapons with wide swings such as Ultra greatswords.
However, I may be wrong on a few things so don't quote on this.

You avoid them like any other hit: Dodge. The trick is recognising the weapons and attacks that do it the most frequently and dodging accordingly.

A dead angle is a strike facing partiality or completely away from the opponent with the intent of striking through their guard. It is an indefensible attack.

So is it a bug? I mean if you hit a part that isn't guarded by a shield then it makes sense for them to take damage. But if you hit the shield while facing another direction, I just don't see how that was an intended gameplay feature.

@sloth Possible, it could also be intentional, npcs and mobs can't be deadangled. In some games its an intentional feature to keep blocking from being op, like throws. (which arn't in dks)

Re: A "Dead Angle"??
I wouldn't call it a bug... At least for most of the cases, once flank is pretty common if it was a real battle.
Scythes, Claymores, Murakumos... the way they hit for deadangle is reasonable.
Now, when we come to back-side wotg, man... THIS is kinda bugged to me makes no sense at all!
