    Gravelording question Empty Gravelording question

Post by MEEfO Mon Dec 24, 2012 8:21 pm

Hello forum! Apologies if this isn't the correct place to post this question; wasn't certain whether to post in PvP or Covenants..

I just joined the Gravelord Servants--unfortunately late in the game--and read through the Gravelording sticky thread. Very helpful, but I still have an unanswered question or two. Presently I'm sl77, I've defeated Pinwheel but have not yet defeated Nito in the Tomb of Giants. So as I understand it, I can infect player worlds in TotG with the Eye of Death as my boss is not defeated. So I was wondering, if I enter Nito's tomb via the Catacombs entrance, can I drop an Eye of Death there to infect player worlds and essentially convert that space to a battle arena? Has anyone tried this?

Final question, as a sl77 player, what is (are) the best area(s) to use an Eye of Death where I'll actually be in level range for some action?

Thanks, all. Looking forward to spreading misery..

    Hello Meefo, nice avatar!

I'm not sure about nito's area, I can't check now but I thought that the eyes of death were greyed out in his room if you enter through the catacombs, I know I've never done that atleast.

As for where to gravelord, I've heard of people having really good luck in the DLC oolacile township. Anor Londo and the forest are also really good Dukes can be pretty busy as well. I'm sure others will have more suggestions, but at SL70 I think the four lord areas are most common.

Yukon! Thanks for the reply. As soon as I'm back home I'll check if the Eye of Death is greyed out there. Didn't think to; would have answered my question.

I was thinking of trying out the DLC areas, thanks for the tip. As for Anor Londo and the Forest, since I've beaten the area bosses (Moonlight Butterfly, Sif, and Ornstein/ Smough) am I correct in assuming these are now off-limits for infecting?

If so I'll try the Township and Duke's. Thanks again for the tip. Later tonight I hope to be spreading holiday cheer all over Lodran.

You could always to turn Anor dark, you would be able to host then. Also activating kalameets boss door would mean you could host Royal Wood.

Great ideas, robsthedon! I plan to turn Anor Londo dark before NG+ so that's perfect. And thanks for the advice on Kalameet, wouldn't have thought of that.

I spent the other day gravelording Oolacile Township. I brought 25 Eyes of Death, and sadly 20+ times I was immediately invaded by a good old fashioned red phantom. 3 other times I was invaded by a blue spirit of vengeance (lost all 3, doh). Several other times I was invaded by both red and blue phantoms which was a great time. Miraculously I beat both phantoms once, but predictably lost quickly and brutally the other times. Gravelording is sort of my introduction to PvP in Dark Souls as I have not done any invading myself previously. I realize this is probably not wise, but I'm a fan of trial by fire haha

I should probably post this in another thread but my big problem with PvP is backstabs. I die 9 of 10 times by a teleport backstab where the guy is in front of me, and just in a flash just appears behind me in a backstab animation. I try using curved swords to prevent it--with some success recently, but ultimatley they always get me on it eventually. Usually after I've whittled their health down to next-to-nothing. More frustrating: I've never once successfully backstabbed my opponent despite being in position, not blocking, and tapping R1. I affect backstab in PvE all day long, but apparently there's something about PvP I haven't figured out..

Look on you tube for ewgf's tutorial on bs'ing, you need to master it, pvp will be easier.
