Tips for evading pursuers?
I keep getting owned by all the DLC sorceries, especially the pursuers. I never seem to time my rolling correctly and almost get one-shotted by these things. I can barely run away from them since they are so fast. The only strategy that seems to work is to go around a corner, but in an open area I am basically a goner. Any tips? It's embarrassing because I consider myself a somewhat decent PvPer.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
line em up and fast roll into em. your guys body should blast thru them all when hes in the air like a boss.
use a magic barrier.
use the silver pendant.
use hidden body or fog ring.
just sprint away theyre slow.
if you can't roll try using a big shield like havels or stone giants.
also if you put them into a backstab, you're immune to damage when that happens.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
yeah. i dunno i dont really use it too to much unless its a player that looks like the magics a crutch to them. i'll whip it out and let em know thats not gonna work.. they usually switch lol!
but yeah, the fast roll is the most important one. someone in the arena with pw on casted pursuers and i immediatley started heading towards him as he came towards me to combo dark beads...
rolled thru the darkbeads and pursuers at the same time and roll stabbed him lol, looked pretty cool was a big explosion of dark magic and my guy rolled out like a boss.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
the best thing to do is to back pedal until they dissappear which realy pisses them off lol. a good caster wil ohko your *** with a css if you use the pendant but it does work, just watch out.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
The most Ideal option is to get the pursuers to hit an object.
Beyond that, just try and fast roll through it, it may take a few attempts but it is the most efficient method and you can just roll bs the opponent.

i never run away from purusers, just roll straight into them, most casters are used to people being terrified and expect you to run away, they have no idea what to do when you just roll straight through them!

Have to agree with that. Most mages I faced back away trying to save themselves after expecting a 1-hit ko, even had one message me on that. If you can roll right in and you should get rid of them without damage. You should even have enough time to dodge a dark bead counter in case.

if you expect a dark bead to come roll left or right straight away after dodging the first pursuers,

Beware that if you use the silver pedant, they will be deflected BUT they won't dissapear and will come back for you. Scared the hell out of me when it first happened!

The only real threat is if your foe can use tranquil walk of peace with dark magic, then your screwed.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
I roll left and right over and over. I can use it to strafe toward them too. I rarely get hit by them. But, IMO, the good Dark Magic PvPers are waiting for you to get close as they will give you a Dark Bead in the face for your troubles.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
Dark bead is Dark Souls version of a 12-gauge shotgun, way too dangerous but easy to beat if you know how to manuver and counter it.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
Pursuers is minutiae compared to Bead.
Pursuers cast time is grossly prohibitive, simply picking a direction and rolling over and over will stop it, it'll hit terrain. When I set out to try the new dark magic I expected to get many kills with them but I didn't.
Everything was on Bead. The list of common attacks you can trade bead with if you have a little poise is silly. Just like GFB if you can predict a roll you can punish it, only for much more damage. I've even been able to pivot Bead roll BS attempts, I think the 1700 some odd damage is worth tanking a random R1.

Re: Tips for evading pursuers?
i dunno man... almost every player i've ever fought telegraphs their intentions with spells.
you can see it. they kind of stand around waiting, or they'll go do something weird like hide behind an object or do a half baked retreat and swap to tali.. that or your pressure them to much and can sense them panicing and switching to the spells.
it's like they're aiming their spells and rehearsing it before they do them, and you can see it from a mile away when they do. i've rarely met a player that used a spell i wasn't ready for, regardless if it hit me or not.
just watch them a little more closely, you'll see what i mean.
edit: oh yeah. they like to roll when they swap their spells too i noticed, forgot to mention that. that or stand still for a split second or continue running a certain direction for a bit too long, anyways this is stuff you'd notice with time i can't really state it all...

Great Magic Barrier is your best friend! I use it every time I PvP now. I hate the new sorceries though. Super easy to get one shot if you dont have alot of vit

Fast roll dodge like a madman, pendant is too risky (won't stop the follow up CSS).
