oh BBC my sister watches a show avidly from there... sherlock, a modern reboot version, is very good! In fact the guy playing john watson is being cast as bilbo baggins in the upcoming "The Hobbit" lotr movie! and they managed to procure the same actor to be gandalf too!

Re: Brony Thread
don't worry i'll put things back on track sortof...
most of my friend in robotics club are bronies and its from one of them i heard the info in my previous post. also what exactly is the plot of ponies any way or is it a new story every episode with no overarching story arc spanning multiple episodes?
also a synopsis of pony personalitys would be appreciated just so i get more of the references my friends make.

Re: Brony Thread
Outside of the two-parters that begin each season, there really isn't much of an overall plot, it's an episodic show. The first season had hints sprinkled throughout it though about the Grand Galloping Gala, which is where the finale of Season 1 takes place, but I wouldn't necessarily call it an overarching plot.
As to personalities, I'll do the best I can to sum them up, but I'll say the best way to get an idea is just to take 20 minutes and watch the first episode of season 1. Each character's introduction scene is a much better overall summary than trying to describe them with words. Anyway, in order of introduction:
Twilight Sparkle: Somewhat of a loner, she's what you would call a bookworm. Loves reading, learning, and studying. Her special talent is magic, which allows her to do things that other magic-using ponies cannot do such as teleportation and enchanting objects. While she is one of the more mature members of the Mane 6, she is also one of the most naive in social situations due to her somewhat reclusive lifestyle. Current occupation is Ponyville's librarian.
Spike: The only non-pony and non-female main character, he is a baby dragon. Basically acts as Twilight's assistant at the library and is able to magically send letters to Princess Celestia, who is essentially the series's Big Good.
Pinkie Pie: Easily the most bizarre character of the cast. Loves parties and joking around. Her special talent is partying, and she derives joy from making other people smile. She is known to defy the laws of physics and the fourth wall through sheer hyperactivity. Current occupation is the town's Party Organizer.
Applejack: The most "normal" member of the cast, I can't really think of a good way to describe her. She works an apple orchard with the rest of her family, is incredibly down-to-earth, and is the physically strongest of the Mane 6. Probably the most mature of the Mane 6. Her special talent and current occupation are working at the apple orchard.
Rainbow Dash: The tomboy of the group. She is very brash and proud, and has a habit of causing mischief. Her special talent is flying, which allows her to fly faster than average pegasi to the point where she can break the sound barrier under the right conditions. She has no official occupation.
Rarity: The "fancypants" of the group. She is very focused on fashion and appearances, and holds herself in very high esteem. Her special talent is finding gems, which she uses as decoration to enhance the flair of her designs as a dress-maker.
Fluttershy: The wallflower of the group. She is physically weak and very timid around other ponies. Her special talent is an attunement to wildlife, allowing her to essentially be able to talk to animals. She acts as the town's "ranger," making sure all the wild animals in the area are taken care of.
Like I said though, these don't really do them as much justice as their introduction scenes do.
EDIT:
Another semi-important point...Twilight Sparkle and Rarity are unicorns, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are Pegasi, and Pinkie Pie and Applejack are Earth Ponies (ie; they have no special properties about them)

Re: Brony Thread
Heh, the guy really worked hard aligning the Pony's mouths to the music/finding applicable clips for certain lyrics.
But just youtube 'Weird Al Polka' and multiple ones he's done throughout the years should pop up. His polka medleys are the best!

To all my Brony Forum-mates:
This **** is vintage.
And before you say, yes, I know this one is the one for little girls, I just thought it would make a fine addition to this thread

Fun fact: Applejack is the only one of the Mane 6 from Friendship is Magic who has not been altered from her first incarnation in the series, which is shown in this video at 1:26, though I'm unsure as to which earlier generation this one is exactly. I never could handle any G3 or earlier MLP stuff :|

You'll get used to it ...I mean...
It was surprising seeing the influence some of the earlier ponies shown in the video here seemed to have had on the FiM ponies. Rainbow Dash was probably heavily influenced by Firefly in terms of personality (given what I can take from the one line of dialogue lol), and Twilight even has her same name and teleportation abilities, though she seems to be much more timid in this incarnation.
