I'm wondering if it should be a trilogy, but now we need a plot for this movie.
It should have ponies, salad, Fluttershy, and a large transformer made out of rubbish and drake scales called "Lego Pony".
It would get 9/10 on IDMB, 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and pirated copies would be all over the internet before it's even released. It would be awesome.

Well, not really. Anyway, I'm sure the child won't be much different from your average monarch. I also don't really dabble in news about the monarchy, unless it's very important. e.g. Elizabeth II died of a heart attack, or something similar.

Not really, no, but I would'nt really mind either. It won't be long off anyway, and I think over 80 is a bit too old to be making country affecting decisions.

Well, yes, that is mainly what her life consists of, as well as looking grumpy. She dosen't personally do the decisions, but passes them on to Parliament, who then give them to the current government in charge, which, at the current moment is the Conservatives, who are doing quite a crappy job of running the country.

My theory is that after Hearts Warming Eve disharmony between the Ponies raised again and Discord was born .
Celestia said this :

And seing how the Elements of Harmony turn normal Ponies into Alicorns i think that after Discord was banished Luna and Celestia ascended since they represent "Harmony" now .
And to add to that i think that only very powerful Unicorns could raise the Sun and the Moon and Luna and Celestia were such powerful Unicorns but now that they are immortal they don't need to teach other Ponies how to raise the Sun and the Moon .
Starswirl might have also been able to cast that Spell and maybe Clover the Clever was supposed to be his Succesor ?

Perhaps Celestia doesn't want to be a Queen since she views Luna as her equal and honoured her by calling herself Princess and not Queen .
There can only be one Queen .

Maybe the way they run the kingdom is different. It could be that the title of 'princess' is the highest one that can be held since we are never seen any higher positions above it.
The parents of both Celestia and Luna were, if anything, regular ponies. Twilight herself was born by regular unicorns so it's possible that the same goes for Celestia and Luna. Who they are may have been lost to some unknown history book that only Twilight would have or their names might not have been recorded at all.
Celestia and Luna both became Alicorns because they were able to defeat Discord, kind of like how Twilight became one herself once she finished Starswoorl's spell. Unless if this is just leading up to the question of "why is she called princess?"

As for Celestia being Princess instead of Queen, you can blame Hasbro. Originally Lauren Faust wanted her to be Queen Celestia, but Hasbro said it didn't suit the audience as well as Princess (little girls enjoy pretending to be princesses more than queens or something). One of the earliest examples of Hasbro meddling for their toy sales :|

In practice she is very much a queen. Just call Luna a princess because that's what they are.
