Failed to invade/ summon failed/ eternal fog walls

Probably been a million other posts about this, but the PC version has some very very VERY annoying and disheartening issues with the multiplayer aspect, which, oddly enough, only became a major pain in my *** after patch 1.07 went live for the PS3 version. First of all, we all know the P2P implementation in this game is atrocious at worst and decent at best, but this is absurd, it takes literally 20+ attempts to summon ONE person, and after that, it summons first try/ invades easy with that one person you have made a connection to. And that's only summoning, every time I try to invade, it fails. Always.

The fog wall issue only popped up a few days ago, in that sometimes, I get eternal fog walls, and must quit out or commit suicide in order to make them go away.

This is seriously starting to grind my gears, at this rate I might as well just buy another PS3 and play on that again It's a great way to make people lose their hair and save £5 on a haircut. - but seriously, is there any fix(es) to this? FROM need to fix it themselves soon...

As an avid PvP'er it's sad to barely be able to connect to players.

I know the feeling. I almost stopped to play on PC recently because of that. Almost everything is better on PC, but I'm frustrated not being able to play with other people.
I had the same problem on PS3 before, but recently the network became much better. I don't know if it's related with the recent patch.
I don't think there is any solution to your problem on PC. I tried to configure my rooter multiple times, but nothing seems to work for me. I just gave up.

You can play with other people just not the people you want to play with.

sad to hear u having such problems getting any online action. for me its the best part of the game....

i realised that it may take several tries to summon a person, but that wasn't any different on console as far as i remember. finding a specific person or a friend can be really annoying. on the other hand it sometimes even works for me on the 1st or 2nd attempt. waiting to be summoned can sometimes really take a long time, invading works somehow much better for me.

be sure to check the network settings in the gfwl menu: upnp should be enabled and "nat_type" should be "open" - but i'm pretty sure u know about that.

I tried to summon my friend for over 2 hours but was never able to do it, and then 20min later i summoned a random on the first try...

To summon a player on PC vers takes a lot of patience, invading is much easier for me. But recently I am having some issues with invading, it seems like person who is invading me can't spawn in my world, or the other way around.

I tried co-op for a few times it worked like charm with Japanese players, not EU or USA or any other country

This is how I had to set up my port forwarding in order to make DS online work better. If you use Steam, then there's no harm opening those port ranges I've labelled as "Steam" as well. Some people report that it helps, but I am not sure. Still, no harm in trying. Colon between two numbers means all ports between them (2:5 = 2, 3, 4, 5).

Hey ComaPrison, I have that uPnP on, and I believe that forwards the ports automatically, it's really sad the PC version is plagued by issues like this, but on the bright side, I recently finished my NG+6 keyboard and mouse run, I think I'll continue with that, get him into +7, and then prepare for another set of endless fog walls :|

I also have uPnP on but I was still running into issues with connecting for summons/summoning/seeing other people's summon signs, up until the point that I manually forwarded the port ranges. Up to you if you think it's not worth the hassle of trying though.

i think it's possible some routers upnp don't work for ds? dunno for sure cuz i dunno comp stuff so jut speculatin but if u 2 lazy to forward the ports i showed u (includin the steam ones) then u too lazy to deserve to play online action ds anyways so lullululul
