It's funny, but I actually ran into my very first Catchpole user last night. He really wasn't bad with it either. I spanked him anyway, but he wasn't bad.

im actually making this build, i love the moveset but it does damage.

I was actually giving it some thought when I started revising my Arty Sword toon. I had to pump it's stats up so high to be effective with the sword that I thought I might as well check out some of the other weapons that scale with 3 or more stats. I ended up toying around with both the Catchpole and the Crescent Axe. Wasn't terribly impressed with either, at least in comparison to the Arty Swords, but I'd think with your stats high enough they must dish out fairly decent numbers right?

well with 99 str, dex and int it only goes up to 620, lame.

Its scaling is so low I would rather use it at minimum stats.

Yeah that is pretty weak. As Wyrm said though, might not be a bad low level INT weapon. Probably out-power a lot of other stuff if you had the stats to back it up before maybe SL50 or something.

but it doesnt even need any int, and i scales crap too.

What are the scaling grades and requirements? Save me having to look it up.

Well it's not like using it with an INT toon would be a bad idea, so long as you were focusing on the other stats. E scaling or not, it's still more damage. I've actually been getting a lot of use out the TGSoA lately because of it's magic damage. Obviously it does a lot more of it than the Catchpole, but being able to attack people through their shields and actually do decent damage is a pretty great thing.

gsoa is actually really underrated, the biggest thing its got going for it is the amazing reach it has, people always end up getting hit because they never think about how long it is, plus that phantom reach is rediculous.

Well I'd read over and over that the other two were loads better than the true sword, but that's the one I ended up using because I wanted to check out how it did with high scaling stats, with it's B/B/A/A. It's really not bad at all. I like it a lot better than the other 2 actually.

I wouldn't use it with any other toon than one that's tailored to it, but if you have a toon like that, there isn't much that's better, IMO.

ive used it in my wuality build and its actually ok, i havent parryed anyone with it since ive only used it once or twice but i really like it.

what about this? same r1 moveset and the usual roundhouse sweep r2.

I love the Catch Pole. I like it better than any other halberd other than the Great Scythe even on DEX builds. It must be the looks.

ii have a dex build that i never use, holy crap i cant imagine the scythe with a buff, so op.
i love the scythe an di use it with the scimitart on my dex build, its pretty awesome. the build is more about using a weapon that is rarely used if ever. i like it and i wanted to make a build around it, i hope the crits are good on it(sspecially ripostes).

I was averaging between 850 and 900 on ripostes with the Catch Pole and 40 DEX, 16 STR, and 9 INT.

that's actually pretty good, i guess because of the high split damage and the whole ar not going through two denfenses, i like.

Yeah, with your higher AR you should be able to break 1k on lightly armored opponents and hit around what I was on heavily armored opponents.

your original build could also use the channellers trident effectively... thats rare too!

Using it as an offhand poke could be useful and turn it into an even more interesting build.

i forgot about the trident, a very underrated weapon indeed. that thing is actually pretty good since its a pear and it has good chip damage.
