Re: Dead Angling
Well, no.
To dead angle, you need to be facing in a direction that would be able to hit your opponent's back if he were still directly in front of you.
Because of that, only weapons with really wide horizontal attacks can dead angle.
Another way to think about it is that it doesn't matter whether or not your weapon actually hits the shield or the opponents back. What matters is which direction your character is facing compared to your opponent when you swing.

You say that, but I can dead angle with the katana, as well as the great club 2h slam. :|

It could be possible. Maybe someone will come in here and correct me. It's happened before.

Re: Dead Angling
I've seen about 90% of all attacks dead angle. The attacks with wide horizontal swings are of course easier, but I've also seen things like the rolling R1 of a straight sword when two handed (the poke) dead angle when used by skilled players.

LOL, that's so dumb, but yea I dead angled this guy at least 6 times with the Great Club 2h r2, but then again that move moves you back a bit. :suspect:

Re: Dead Angling
The GC has an unusual area of attack. If they land in an area behind you, then you could theoretically dead angle with it. The kat's dead angle is the roll R1, since the attack starts with your kat behind you.

Re: Dead Angling
I love how easy it is to dead angle with the halberd-esque weapons' rolling R1s. I can sometimes face less than 90 degrees away from my opponent and still hit the dead angle.

Re: Dead Angling
You know what I wonder, if you are getting dead angled what if you turn around with your opponent, then maybe you'll counter the dead angle xD. Oh and a friend of mine dead angled with the REGULAR katana slash, not the roll attack so it's like ehhhhh, duh fook? :suspect:

Re: Dead Angling
You can be dead angled as long as the two players aren't looking at each other. If an attack connects while two players aren't facing each other, it will dead angle. Some weapons have hitboxes that make this easier than others, of course.
EDIT: And yes Bee, you can block a dead angle by unlocking and turning so that your shield block where the angle would hit you from. It's most obvious with Wrath of the gods, if they turn their back to you, turn your back to them and you can block it.
