Hm...Walmart
So, don't know if anyone has noticed, but Walmart has Dark Souls 2 on their site for preorder on the 360, says it should be shipped on 12/01/2013.

Place holder date? I would be completely happy with this release date though : )

....But that date has already passed? (seriously why do americans not put the date in chronological order? it's really strange.)
Dark souls 2 is already up somewhere on amazon im pretty sure too.

Re: Hm...Walmart
Seems plausible. Assuming it's not on PS4, they'd ideally want to release before PS4 drops.
1. Project began in August or September 2011.
2. Development began 'in earnest' after AotA was released in August 2012.
3. 25% complete by November or December 2012 according to Edge interview.
4. Team for Dark Souls II is much larger than teams for DeS or DkS.

All that and the logical fact that they have a roughly 2 year production cycle on the souls games so far, though as DkS2 is a much more expanded and high budget game you could see it plausibly taking longer too.

The fact that they're developing the game with a graphics engine they themselves created really speeds things up. And, the DkS2 world will be approximately the same size as DkS.
Also, why would you say "December 1st, 2013" but write 1/12/2013? Makes no sense.

Re: Hm...Walmart
Actually, we say "The first of December two thousand and thirteen". It's only americans who put the month first in both writing and speech. Like I said how come you do that? I never understood it.
I do love how you presumed we spoke the month first though, so cute.
It's also strange how we swapped from saying "ninteen ninety-x" to "Two thousand and x" post millennium, though I guess I understand considering "twenty thirteen" just sounds coarse and horrible compared to the other way of saying it.

It ain't our fault. We were taught that is how it's done. We are simply doing what they said is the "correct" way. Blame our Forefathers for devising this, the "It's" rule and the English System of Measurement.Actually, we say "The first of December two thousand and thirteen". It's

I'm not saying it's your fault lol. I just wanna know historically why it changed, it's quite an interesting development of culture to do something like that. It's like swapping round the meanings of words for weather, night and day.. Like eating your main meal when you get up and cereal at 7pm in the evening.
It's simply quite interesting.
P.S. I am aware that Germans eat their main meal at lunchtime and a snack in the evening, before anyone brings that cultural detail up (it's actually biologically far healthier to do that, though impractical in a working day admittedly)

Re: Hm...Walmart
Nevermind how we write dates, fact of the matter is, they have a placeholder for December of this year...and just because the ps4 has been announced doesn't mean it'll hit this year, most likely it's got another year before release. And DkS was released in 2011, that's two years of production so far on DkS2 so a December placeholder isn't that far out of sync.

I'm a little bit sad that this is not looking to be a next gen title.
Ah well, either way I'm going to fail winter quarter.
WOOOOOOOOO DARK SOULS II!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :affraid:

Why wouldn't it be a next gen title? Alot points at it. The PS4 is set to release holiday season 2013, it looks next gen according to previews plus From Software was listed at the PS4 presentation as developers Sony have been working/consulted with regarding their new console.

Re: Hm...Walmart
More evidence of release time frame:
Gamestop has it listed as hitting the shelves on 12/31/2013 (31/12/2013 for Serious :x )
Amazon Also states 12/31/2013
My guess would be that retailers are being told to expect it in "December" and Amazon and Gamestop are doing the "if the date changes, everyone will be happy to get their game a little early" method while Wally is doing the optimistic approach.

If this is to be the date of DKII for X-Box, I wonder when it will be released for PC?

I think you'd better include "if" in that sentence. Has it even been confirmed for PC?

I'm fairly sure that PC, X-BOX and PS have been planned since the beginning.

Re: Hm...Walmart
Probably has to do with the passing of time and habits. I'm guessing we just though "December first" sounds better than "First of December". Although, I'm pretty sure most Americans hardly care which way you say it as it carries the same message, but I think we just say "December First" or the sake of not having to say the "of" in "First of December" cause we find that a "useless" sound when you can carry the same meaning by altering the order.
But, that is just me. Some simple things have quite a history in terms of their origin. You would be rather intrigued by how the abbreviation "O.K" came to be.

Re: Hm...Walmart
I'm pretty sure OK is just an abbreviation of the word okay..
Just like you don't put e's on the end of words like old and shop, it's just evolution of the english language in my opinion.
I think some simple things having crazy explanations would be fun though

Another theory is that it can be traced back to the break from England after the War of Independance. It was as much a class war as anything, and perhaps people in the nascent America felt the need to abandon some of the more formal language the British used. Language can be a funny thing, constantly in flux and evolving by region.
