Accessing Artorias of the Abyss

Hello all,

Sorry, I know I am probably late to the party on this. I Beat Dark Souls a long time ago and just downloaded the DLC about a month ago. I want to get into it. My question is, now that I have beat the game, I assume I am in new game+ So would I have to play through the game again to access the DLC? I know what I have to do... I was just hoping I could go to Darkroot Basin and head in there... not possible?

You have to have access to the Duke's Archives and kill the first crystal giant that you see there and once you get the broken pendant he drops you can access the DLC at Darkroot Basin, so no you can't access it right away.

Ahh I see... Honestly, it was one of those things I think I already knew the answer to... I was just hoping I didn't have to do a full play through again... Not to say, I don't want to... I love the game enough to do just that... But, i was just hoping to get right into it. Thanks for the reply ! and the welcome!
