The Great Scythe

Idk if there's been any threads on ENB's new video, and I'm too lazy to look. But my real question is, "How many of you made a new character just for the great scythe after he made that video?"

Cause I did I've never used it before. And I like it. It's halberd-like. Moveset is strange, but it works. It does str-like damage with dex-like speed, like all the halberd classes, but it's pretty legit for a dex toon.

Everything you said is true, I would just watch out for dem parries/backstabs.

BS's can get me, but, ya know, roll bs isn't a big thing anymore. It used to be what EVERYONE did. Now it's parries, but they can't do that, since I'm an experienced halberd user, and I stay the heck away haha!

I picked it up pretty well in PvP fast, cause of my past experiences with my G. Halberd, but the moveset was hard to get used to in PvE. Some stuff is just faster than me, and the R1 is slow as HEEEECK! Might as well use R2 constantly, which is pretty dang fast, and does the same damage of an R1 str weapon.

I made a new character for it. Well, if changing a character with 28 ex to 45 counts as creating a new character, as it changed my playstyle.

I've always thought the Great Scythe was interesting and my dex build has a +15 that I use sometimes. It's really easy to tell a good scythe user from a bad too. My main problem facing it is that I keep thinking I can get inside it's guard with a roll, but it never works.

It has a strange back swing. It's different from every weapon I've used, with similar traits from my favorite weapons, the Halberds.

I'm trying to use it's strange quirks to my advantage, but, so far, I can't get by turtlers. They just walk through my attack and poke me

Dead angle with it.

I dislike the great scythe, it's not too epic IMHO.

I like some aspects of it, the R2, running and jumping attack are great but it's basic R1 is just piss poor, also the stagger when you miss leaves you wide open.

I tend to hate weapons that have stagger.

Me too, it's why, for as powerful as they are, I suck with the Halberd class of weapons.

Never been able to do this with any weapon ever. Plus, this guy always seems to stay square with me. Idk. It was just one turtler, and Idk how well I would have done on most of my toons. I could have powered through with a Greatsword, but my halberd toons probably couldn't do it.

I knew SOMEONE would make a thread about his video.

Anyway, I'm sure it's the best dex weapon in PvE. It fairs better than any other dex weapon I've ever used. Ever. It just destroys. It's just the moveset that's a little weird.

Also, this is a thread asking if YOU made a toon to test ENB's findings.

I don't need to test it, all my toons are Dex and use all Dex weapons.
Great Scythe is a monster for PvE, although sometimes, the regular Scythe does better.
But for PvP...meh, too easy to punish and unless one side lags, it hardly proves to be challenge to fight a GS user.

Only one person so far has destroyed me when I have this weapon haha! I think most spear users would get me, too.

I don't do much PvP anyway haha!

The Great Scythe is a weapon I don't uee in PvP just to be nice. It's probably my best weapon ssince I used it for 6 playthroughs in PvE and I used it up until revently in PvP.

I receive way too many messages complaining about how OP the weapon is, but I never had trouble fighting against it.

i have a toon that uses a chaos great scythe but im not very good with it, or any other halberd class weapon for that matter, though i will admit after watching his video is was tempted to give it another try.

I've been using this for ages so no, I didn't make a new character after ENBs video (since I don't watch his videos generally anyway, I only knew one existed because of the other thread). If you know the ins and outs, the moveset quirks are easy to overcome. For instance, the R1 strike is much much faster if you connect. Besides other reasons I actually use the R1 attack, I know once someone's stamina is depleted I can open up.

I used to enjoy the G scythe, but now 5/10 people use it so its a no no for me. Sadly, because its a great weapon. Get it?

It isn't easy to parry the Great Scythe if you dead angle

Or have an atypical fighting style. I've only been parried by one person ever in PvP using it (way to ruin the streak ChizFreak). I'm not saying other duelists here wouldn't be able to do it either (basically, this is not a challenge post) but with the number of people I've fought that's a pretty good track record. The sweeping attack I'll admit makes it a likely candidate due to the long attack animation but like all weapons, anything is easily parried if you know when the attack is. And with all weapons that rise in popularity (used to be just me and Goblin back in the day pretty much) the bandwagon jumpers don't take the time to learn nuances of the weapon are predictable.

So you're a hipster, huh? Just because other people are using it, doesn't mean you shouldn't. If you enjoy it, do it. Don't let the fact that you want to be "cool" and "unique" weigh you down. It's not like using the Great Scythe will mark you as a cheap player. I don't listen to mainstream music because I don't like it, not because I don't want to be like everyone else.

Sorry, but I just can't use a weapon if is overused.

But hey, don't worry, this is me living, and I don't have any problems!

This also works about clothes and other stuff.


And I admit that I use the G scythe sometimes, but then when I find 3 opponents using it, I hide it on my inventory again

Everyone's going to be using it now, it used to be a fairly rare weapon for people "in the know" but it's a really good weapon in PvP that we're going to be seeing everywhere now that ENB's advertised for it. Sometimes I wish these people didn't make videos.
