Today, I got a good stroke of luck. Was doing some crafting in TF2, and I got the AWPer Hand, a sniper rifle off Counter Strike: Global Offensive. This weapon is worth an exceptional amount due to it's rarity.

One year when my ex and I were living together a few years back we were broke on Christmas. Both our families were spread around geographically, and nobody was really doing any family thing that year, so we decided to just have our own little celebration, but the day before Christmas Eve I got hit with a bill that I didn't know was coming and had to spend our holiday money on it or our power was going to be shut off. So we were pretty depressed on Christmas Eve. Not really celebrating, just kinda sitting around, and I went to the store with our last $10 to get a pack of cigarettes for us to split until I got payed again, and I had 1 dollar left afterwards. So I was about to walk out of the store and stopped and figured I couldn't really do anything with a buck anyway, so I bought a 1 dollar scratch off lottery ticket. I won $200 on the first one, bought a couple more, and won $50, $20, $20, and $10. And I pretty much never win scratch tickets. I get em occasionally anyway, if I have a extra buck in my wallet or something, but I almost never win. Anyway going home and getting to pull all that money out of my pocket in front of her was awesome. One of my best Christmases ever. It was a complete Charley Brown moment.

I've tried so many tickets which you can win something in. I won my Xbox, and a load of money in a Coca Cola prize draw back in 2005. It was a great day. After that though, I haven't won a scratch card since.

Yeah I pretty much always lose. If it wasn't for that one time that I won all that I probably would have stopped wasting my money on them by now, but because it happened that one time I can't help continue to try to make it happen again. It's a vicious cycle.

That both sucks and is an amazing comeback story, Plastic.
I can't remember the last time I had any actual luck. Except bull- -ing my way out of homework or a bad mark.

Once a steak knife was balancing on the edge of my plate when I accidentally hit it with my arm. It spun towards my head and I was struck in the eye.
With the handle.
Lucky, I think.

Phew! That sounds terrifying! I've just learned to never leave anything hanging off any surface, ever again.

I can only tell you how many times I've nearly died due to such small things.

If you wouldn't mind, could you mention a few more? I'm sure it could encourage people to be more careful, as it taught me something with your last one.

Well there was the time I slipped on a bottle on the stairs and fell off them. I would have landed on my neck but I somehow actually landed on my hands and pushed, sending myself into a chair. Very painful, but landing on my head would have been worse I think.

Here's my luck for today: Walking to the stairs from the second floor during lunch and I turned to say to someone I knew. Next thing I know a guy bumped into me and the weight of my backpack(which is around 10lb, 4.53592kg give or take) takes me down the stairs. A quick reflex and I turn around and put one foot on the step and I start walking down fast. However I lost my control from the momentum and had to jump down to the ground and stopped myself short of the wall.

Sounds very lucky to me. The closest I ever got was falling down the stairs in a house I lived in when I was 16. There were 3 flights of stone stairs, as it was a victorian house. I fell from the top while going downstairs to get my dad something. I was bruised all over, and bleeding on a cut which had reopened, but if I landed on my head, same as Tolvo, it would have been much worse.

I have a sort of odd one that isn't lucky, but definitely a seize the moment type deal for another person.
Once in school a friend of mine asked me what the black power salute was, so in the hall I did it while walking just as an african american senior was going by. He looked at me sternly, then gave it in reply as we kept moving.
It was an interesting moment.

You're right, that certainly held my attention. I wonder if it was an awkward moment, or a moment of respect..

That's not lucky, Tolvo. You want luck? How about accidentally nicking some dude's fly kicks and getting away without an ***-whooping.

Well there was the time I was trying to get to science class, and the hallway was really crowded. Just saying it was crowded was no excuse if youwere late, so when time was getting thin I just pushed through. I came out the other side to a friend who asked me what the hell was wrong with me. He turned me around to reveal I just walked through a cat fight, literally in between two girls clawing at each other.
I made it to class on time though.

Oh, cat fights. Finished as fast as they start, usually due to the lack of damage done to anyone. But walking right through a fight takes balls. I usually avoided anything like that.
But oh yeah, made it to class on time. I didn't mind when I got to lessons by year 10. I attended about 3 lessons of each type of subject per term.

At our school cat fights caused a lot of damage. Girls would get clawed, have their noses broken, get smashed against lockers. They were more brutal than any fights that went on between the dudes. They usually just beat on each other until they got separated, the girls sometimes broke bones.

That's the opposite of what happened at my school. There would be no real damage. The boys would smash each other against railings, throw rocks at eachother, and other unpleasant things. One particularly bad thing was that one boy was going through teacher supplies by sneaking into the staff rooms, and unlocking things with a Swiss Army Knife. I was walking through the English section when I saw him unlocking the personal files locker. He came up to me, flipped the knife around to show the blade, ran up to me, and threatened to kill me if I told anyone about what he was doing. Surprise, he was expelled the next day. Proof that boys can do some dangerous s**t at school.

This isn't something that happened to me but a friend of mine. Last winter, he was driving his car on the highway with his sister. They were talking, when he slid on a patch of black ice and ended up flying off the road. It flipped over a good 3 times before it came to a stop. The car was destroyed, but neither of them were even scratched.
