Don't use magic/pyro/offensive miracles in the entire dlc area, all the enemies are resistant to all of them. Well, except the tree dudes lol.
Split damage weapons are garbage in the dlc areas as well, be careful.

A lot of things are garbage in the DLC, what got me through it is pure dodging and slow, heavy weapons

Use +15 weapons. Any spells you pick up in the DLC is useless for the DLC, outside of the DLC it's just overpowered. This means: Dark Bead, Black Flame, Dark Orb, and Dark Fog. Crystal Magics can destroy most of the bosses, but that ruins the fun for one and for two it is EXTREMELY risky. The bosses are best fought on common ground-- get a high stability shield, (most bosses can go completely through an unupgraded Grass Crest Shield, even at 40 END + RoFaP), and use a fast melee weapon. Slower weapons such as Greataxes, Ultra-Greatswords, Great Clubs, etc. will have problems in this area if you're not a master at using them-- you'll never get a chance to attack! A good weapon for STR builds will be: Hand Axe, Club/Reinforced Club/Mace, Claymore, and any variation of Halberds. DEX builds have it easy, Balder Side Sword can one shot most of the enemies at 40 DEX, and it's fast speed makes it a boss killer in the DLC. If you're neither a STR nor DEX build, make a +15 weapon that's fast, I'd say a good choice is a Straight Sword, as you can wield almost all of them with base stats.

Artorias wrecked me pretty bad, I'm thinking my Black Knight Sword is a bit too slow to fight him effectively. Time to go grind a bit to make a better wep.
Maybe I should take care of the 4 Lords first.

Ummmmmmm I used pyros and such just fine in the dlc. They work fine on the Sanctuary Guardian and Artorias and Kalameet. Asa matter of fact I got Kalameet's tail several times with combustions. Manus was the only one with a ridiculous magic resistance. But pyros wrok just fine on him.
I dont now why anyone would say this.
Again, I had ZERO problems with pyros, and only had some problems with sorceries against Manus.

If you're a strength build, go with a Hand Axe +15. The damage is minimal but the revocery is as fast as a Katana and the R2 has the same poise break as a greatsword, so you can stop Artorias from charging up.Dubscythe wrote:Hachouma wrote:Dubscythe wrote:Artorias wrecked me pretty bad, I'm thinking my Black Knight Sword is a bit too slow to fight him effectively. Watch out for the elevator shaft...I can't stress that enough about the DLC. Those thing got me killed more time then the bosses. But yeah, it's a great feeling stepping in the DLC for the first time. We miss the "exploring something new" element by doing the original game over and over

Elevator shafts are OP please nerf.
I didn't have any problems with the elevators myself, only advice I can give is watch your step.

Currently using pyromancy to do the AotA content. Haven't had much of a problem.

I recommend ignoring everyone on here and just go for it. Try to maximize the "what the hell am I doing now?" feeling

Well hopefully I can wander around and beat it by tomorrow, because Bioshock will be taking priority then.

Don't research the DLC. Just play it, that's how it's most fun and hwen discovery is most satisfying.
You bought Bioshock pre-order? Tell us if it was worth the cash.

Bump-a
Got done with Bioshock for now, made a +15 Uchi. Artorias is still wrecking me. Is a shield even worth using.

Use power within if you can, and it is recommended you don't let him buff

Re: So I'm finally getting to play AotA
I'm at Artorias fight with my 50 attunement (every other stat is non-existant) pyromancer build right now. I feel your pain bruv.
Even though Fire Tempest wrecks the sh!t out of him and combustion hits pretty good, the problem is preventing him from powering up. It takes three great combustion hits to stop him, and timing that correctly is a b!tch.
I have a few tactics in mind I'll try tomorrow. Going to give Fire Surge a shot, if that doesn't work, I'll just stop trying to prevent him from buffing up altogether and keep dodging and combustioning until he goes down.
Also, I watched that The Wall kill of Artorias some time ago, and that was amazing. Beating Artorias to death with his own shield, now that takes balls.

Got tired of dying, switch back to the Black Knight Greatsword and went 2hand yolo mode. I rekt him.
