It was pretty strange.
On topic though, people who complain that magic is op are people who don't want to take the time to learn how to beat them, there people are typically gankers. Though dark Magic is actually OP, i mean if i try to get a mage up close they can just one shot me with dark bead if i mess up, but that's about the only OP magic IMO.

I'd actually argue that Dark Bead is not OP. It doesn't do nearly as much damage if you are far away enough and can easily be rolled through to get to the caster. I believe Dark Bead is mostly used as an option for close-quarters combat, which up until Dark Bead, was almost impossible for a mage.

People will argue with you, because mages could use enhanced weapons for close combat, but I agree with you completely

But that's just the thing, should a mage be able to survive at close range? I mean as a mage you should be keeping the enemy away from you and casting spells when there is an opening. Besides, i wouldn't mind it if it didn't one shot me because i messed up just by a mere moment, and if it was more punishable then i also wouldn't mind but its a pretty safe spell to cast.

About mages and CQC, they have access to one of the best weapons in the game: the Moonlight Greatsword.
The thing is ludicrous. At 50 int, it has 480 magic AR. 480. That's roughly 50 less points than a Claymore +15 on a quality build, and people have less Magic Defense than Physical Defense on average, so it becomes as strong as, if not more powerful, than a claymore. That's not counting its superb r2 attacks.
My main beef with magic is how lag corrupts it. One can argue lagstabs, but I still maintain the belief that magic is worse when paired with lag. The point of magic, as I've come to believe, is to hit EXTREMELY hard, but in turn be hard to use and easy to dodge. Lag makes dodging nearly impossible. Magic will somehow hit you, though you clearly dodge it, even when you take it's homing properties into account.
Don't get me started on DB and Pursuers when paired with lag.
