The lore behind The Insane:
The group goes back to 1000's of years ago, when the very first insane people walked the earth. Only during their time in Lordran though, did they find the Hollows, fellow insane people, who could be their followers. Only, the Hollows attacked these insane people, who were forced to fight. Their chest heads impeded their combat, and they only just got out alive. The Insane took refuge in an Asylum for the Insane. They knew they would never be disturbed in their insane rituals and business. But, why were they in Lordran in the first place?
They were running from the Maneaters, a group of terrorists that wore sacks, and wielded Butcher Knives. They were naked apart from that. The Insane only had some Raw Caestus' on their hands. The Maneaters chased The Insane far and wide, for a long time. When The Insane had enough of their bullying, they retreated to the Asylum, in hopes of never being disturbed again. The Insane came to love this place as their home, once they had the Hollows under control. The Insane stayed here for 1000's of years, living off their own supplies of Insane food, which was grown in a damp cell.
The Insane began to produce offspring sooner or later. And that why the current Insane is where they are now. They are direct descendants of the Insane so long ago. And now, the last known survivor of the Maneaters has declared war on the Insane. This will not stand! This will be a time for revenge against the Maneaters for so long ago! The Insane have accepted the call to arms. They ready their chests, fix on their Raw Caestus', and prepare for battle, as they always have done.
The History of the Insane, simpified:
The history of the Insane dates back to 1000's of years old, as mentioned above. But, each generation of Insane people lasts 80 years. There has been a total of 1000 generations of Insane people, dating back 80,000 years, when the Insane started due to the hopelessness of survival at that point in time.
Many of the Insane of only a few hundred years ago were knights and warriors, known for their sheer ferocity in combat. They also didn't wear the conventional armour, only a chest head, which was named the Symbol of Avarice. They were frowned upon as knights for this, and admired as warriors for this, but they helped defend the country of Lordran, regardless of the equipment used.
Ranks of the Insane:
The Insane has always used a simple pyramid of power. It goes in 4 'proper' classes, and 2 'sub-clases.'
The beginning rank, Naked Man, is obtainable by simply becoming Insane. No more is required. But, be expected to be called upon for nearly all types of work, regardless of if you are the lowest rank or not.
The next class, Fat Naked Man, is obtained by collecting 4 pieces of Rubbish with only a Chest Head on. A simple task, hmm? There are only 2 pieces of Rubbish in Lordran. You must go through your journey twice before getting to this slightly more revered rank.
The rank of honour for most Insane, Havel, is awarded for getting 15 pieces of Rubbish on 1 character, while wearing only a Chest Head when collecting each one. You also need to donate a White or normal titanite Slab to a fellow Insane member who needs it.
The highest rank, which only few Insane have ever achieved, Renegade's Cat, is for being able to exploit every single exploit in the game flawlessly, while having immense backstabbing skills, and being able to kill people in full armour and weapons, while only wearing a Chest Head and using Raw Caestus'.
Origin of the Insane, simplified:
The origin of the Insane was in one place only, but it spread slowly over time. In the mythical world of Britain, in a cave far out from civilisation, an insane hermit lay on the floor, cuddling his chest head for warmth. When an explorer found him, and woke him up, the Insane hermit's response was, "The Insane shall never die!!!!!"
News of this old man spread, upon the explorer reporting back to the news publishers. People flocked to see him, and listened to his 'ramblings' about how the Maneaters will destroy all, and that the Insane will rise to take back what they deserve, and that they are not afraid to use their chest heads in doing it.
A few people started to follow this man's beliefs. He converte them into Insane Men in his cave, and told them to spread the word of the Insanity in it's glory. Surely enough, more did. The man taught as many people as he could before he died in his cave, clutching his chest head. His lasts words are imprinted on the wall of the Hall of the Insane: "Go, my children. Create insanity wherever you go, and don't forget the chest heads. Praise the Insane!" The man remains a martyr to the Insane to this day.
And that, is it for all the details of the Insane. Upon finishing this, I'm off to bed, good night everyone.
