Great great great interview. More important than the gameplay trailer. I suggest everyone listen to this.

That really puts my fears to rest about the earlier "accessibility" quote. I feel that I have full faith in DkS II dev team. They know exactly what we want and intend to deliver.

None of the stuff Tanimura said about accessibility surprised me. From
the very beginning, I had said that Namco Bandai and From were not so
stupid to throw away the things that made the game successful. Anybody
who searches my comments and debates with others on this forum can see
that. They seem to understand how delicate the design of this game
actually is. They aren't like many developers/publishers. One reason for
this is that they tend to give From a unprecedented amount of freedom in
their development. This has been stated several times in interviews already, and it's
quite obvious in the designs of past two games. No major publisher
outside of Namco Bandai would have touched the design of Demons' Souls or Dark
Souls with a ten foot pole. They would have considered it too risky of an investment.
Secondly, Namco Bandai doesn't have a strong reputation for destroying franchises like many other publishers do.
What's funny is that they are simply following the Call of Duty business
model, which is: stay true to your core fan base. People outside of the
Call of Duty community can criticize the COD games as much as they
want, but they ain't the ones paying the bills.
Namco Bandai understands this principle, which is why they have consistently prioritized its core fan base, a.k.a. us.
Honestly, it's been a very long time since I've had this much confidence in a
developer/publisher. I really think they are a very unique combination, and I think this game is in pretty good hands.

Even better when you consider how the new directors seem to respect Miyazaki's design philosophy and the core of the Souls franchise. They want to enhance what made Demon's and Dark Souls great, rather than add unnecessary gimmicks or dumbing down. I've had my concerns, but now I'm convinced that Dark Souls II will be like Miyazaki never left.
