For the record I'm going to see Battleship also, for one reason, to see if Liam Nieson says, "You've sunk our battleship!" If he does, that movie has redeemed itself, if not, a total waste of my time.

I'll wait for reviews, and based on those see if it's worth paying money to hear the line or to just wait a week and watch it on youtube lol. I'm reeeeeeeal skeptical on this whole "board games as movies" trend. Just because it worked for comic books doesn't mean it'll work for a much less narrative-driven media form.

Pretty much I'd be willing to just pay ten dollars to hear Liam say that line, that's it.

I'm not as critical but having been in the movie industry for three years, I was a theater custodian it counts, it's been slowly getting to the gaming level. It just feels like most aren't even trying to make something drop jaw awesome or good anymore, just make something up and at least make a return on the money. It's a crying shame really, I can understand that a lot of things have been done, but that doesn't mean you can't reboot a really really really old movie from like the 70s or 80s, and if you actually cared enough and did it on something that was popular then I'd wager you'd make it just as popular now.

Basically, it's a business. That's pretty much all that needs to be said. With the way things are in the economy they try to go with things that are safer, established ideas or rebooting an old film with a famous actor or something that draws a crowd easily. Taking risks on new ideas is something they just don't care to do any more, filling seats is all that matters.

That said, I would pay ten dollars to see a film of just Nicholas Cage staring at a cat. I blame the internet partially for this.

Honestly I wish more video game movies would come out, not ones that follow a plot set down by the a game already but like a squeal or prequeal based off the game. Another thing is I want to see more actual anime movies in the US, like what Japan does, there is no reason at all to limit them when there are probably millions spread all over who don't feel like driving to a probably sold out show that's 3 hours away.

It is a business and they are failing at it in my eyes.

Most of them use the same old business models and just can't deal with how fast the culture is advancing in certain directions. It's the old idea of, "You just don't get me!" But it really is becoming an issue as they just know about a generation that won't go to the movies as much while the younger will, as well those who are stilling that interested in films outside of those when they go with their child, during their later years they won't be satisfied with the "Typical Stuff." Sadly they have no reason to make such changes, since business is still booming. Think about how much money Transformers or Avatar made, this is why there doesn't need to be new ideas in their eyes.

Well there doesn't seem to be much available for Brazil :| South america doesn't seem to be as easy to get out to short notice as Africa and Australasia, and where do you think i'd rather go for a gap year thing?

Lameness, I have not yet had that happen.

So I just talked to some of my old friends from FFXI, going to see if I can't get them to take the jump and give Dark Souls a try. Would be nice to get our guild back together for some fun but I fear some hostilities that tore it apart in the first place may still be present.
