Put low durability and I will find a way to keep using them. Heck even a boss soul born of the chill of winter would make a nice longsword.

I don't think they'll add ice because:
It's still Dark Souls, so I'm assuming we'll still have titanite. I doubt they're going to add a whole new titanite just for an upgrade path, and we already have way more green shard necessities than we could ever need.
Why I think they'll add ice:
So far, they've added a new element in each game.

I'd like too see more boss armour and weapons. Also, just like 3-3 in demon souls, I'd like to play as a boss, but instead of fighting just to get a hood, you get to look like and keep bosses weapon and armour, (assuming you won that is). Also farming stones like slabs and dragon should be made easier. Not easier as in easy to get but as in more varieties. invading with a dragon head on trying to win a stone is no fun for those who don't pvp. And getting 30 for the body without pvp means ng++. And slabs suck at 1 per playthru imo. I've noticed people posting bout cosplay, but you can't cosplay if you can't get the armour you want.

I mean with PTDE you can get 3 guaranteed reg slabs per playthrough and the decent possibility of more from the the great hollow lizards. Not to mention you can farm them off darkwraiths at roughly one per hour of farming if you are lucky. the Drakes in valley of the drakes have about 1/5 chance in dropping dragon scales with max item find.
