Jedi Academy

I bought this game when it came out in late 2003 and played it pretty much consistently online for about 5 years and got pretty good in the process.

I've not played it at all for about the last year and a half but I had a brief little go on it yesterday. I have to say it brought back memories and I also noticed some similarities with DkS. The online community is still going pretty strong even after all these years, it's full of bad players who rage and ***** about your playstyle, great players who don't need to say anything to justify their success and it definitely still takes a lot of skill to be really good!

Anyone else familiar with this old gem of a game?

Never could get into it... I enjoyed Jedi Knight I & II, played through those multiple times, but felt this one was lacking. I think it had mostly to do w/ the fact that you start out as a Jedi which made you too powerful right from the get-go...

I know what you mean, I think the SP mode was pretty average at best, the story was nothing to write home about and it would definitely have died after a year or so if not for the online stuff, which was quite frankly superb.

in my opinion the jedi knight/ jedi academy series are the best star wars games ever made

Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast Yo, one of my all time favorite games, even did a **** Playthrough of it back in the day.

I loved the lego series too but I think the thing that made the JK series stand out was the excellent and unique combat dynamics, there's never been anything like it since.

The only thing I truly hated about JKA was Rosh Penin (loved killing him though) most annoying character ever.

His model was also a popular choice for trolls online too
