    sadly 52poise is a major waste, you still get stunned by greatswords, axes and heavy weapons like that, all while only being 1point away of a really good value. 56poise will also let you tank a greatswords runnig attack. if you opt to go without a shield but put the parrying dagger there you might as well use dark hand, aside from its stability it is a really good shield, some say the best.

    I don't really like the Dark Hand at all, but I noticed, with my first build, I could use many shields, from bucklers to greatshields, freely. It also enables me to switch out items for bows without worrying about midrolling because I will be doing it with or without it so it won't make a difference. I haven't seen being 125 too crippling.

    Might I suggest going with more Dexterity instead of strength? It would make a normal Great Scythe +15 deadly with DMB active. Plus, you very much may be back-stabbed while casting your miracles with how long most of them take to cast. I know that my first reaction to someone casting miracles is to fire tempest them.

    Well, the strength is so I can use greatshields when I need to for stability. I am have capped my level at 125 so I can still fight others without having lots of trouble.

    You can go for the silver knight shield. It has a high stability, okay magic defense, and it weighs less than a greatshield.

    The second best I can think of would be the black knight version. Slightly less than the silver but it is 95% resistant to fire and it weighs 1 point less than the silver. The silver has 76 stability and the black has 74 at +5.

    If you use the Black Knight shield, it is the ultimate defense against someone with pyromancy. 95% damage reduction against fire, so you won't be destroyed by great combustion and could walk through a fireball. Silver Knight one is basically a light weight version of it.

    Basically just repeating what Soris said, but still, love that shield.

    I would say the silver knight shield is a average all around shield. I would use it to block spells once but not pyro or magic spammers. I noticed how often pyromancy is used and the black knight shield ruins them.

    I remember 2v1 matches where the Black Knight Shield saves your life.

    Just did a test. Black knight shield is an end-all pyromancy move with the exception of the Fire Tempest, Firestorm and Chaos Storm. The shield even made lava do 20 or so damage to me. And Fire Surge, even when completely spammed, didn't deplete my 22 endurance and only did 112 damage to me.

    I need to ask. Is there a way to get to the Lucerne right as you get to Firelink? I would really like to know and I won't care if it's a suicide run.

    You can go into the Catacombs right when you start the game. So just Run down into the catacombs, get weapon, die or attempt to summon Leroy and kill Pinwheel, but you don't have to do that part.

    The thing is...I don't know where the Lucerne is, and I have looked it up and I can't find anything about it.

    It is around the second pyromancer in the Catacombs, I believe. It is in a room guarded by skeletons. Search around there and you can find it. And if you want to, watch this video. It'll make the beginning of the game extremely easy.
