Being intelligent kinda sucks.

I dunno why I'm posting this, I guess just to get it off my chest. Ever since I was a kid I've been more mature and smarter than alot of people my age, even some adults, and have had a low tolerance for stupidity. There were no exceptions, I dislike my father because of how 'blank' he is.

Mind you, I'm not bragging or feeding any ego here, just goin' on about crap.

Even to this day, I don't really have any RL friends anymore because I think everyone around me is stupid. I've yet to get a date because most girls my age, and all of them I've been around, were dumb and immature.

I dunno, just..bleh. Sorry for being depressing, just kinda tired of it all, y'know?

i know this feeling, while i am not always school smart i do tend to be more mature and wise then the people my age, most of my friends are older, even my girlfriend. i find it hard to identify with most if not all people in my grade is blatant acts of idiocy really annoy me. I am however glad i am the way i am, it would suck to not be able to help people all the time, know how to work through most problems or deal with adults (as a child)

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I enjoy who I am. It just gets kinda lonely sometimes lol.

But seriously, being intelligent kinda sucks, I find most friends in my group immature and my best friend became immature too after spending 3 months with his stupid cousin, my parents also force me to be immature in order to get friends.

For the OP Suck it up grin and bear it otherwise it gets lonely. It's the world, people are different and see things differently, because people don't give a **** about somethings or ignore it doesn't neccesarily mean they're dumb. Let yourself go once in a while, walk in the pissing rain, do something illogicalstupid, don't be so wound up, wind down, i see it in work\school where it's all about the job 24-7 and they're miserable gits.

The difference between ignoring/not caring and actual stupidity are very different, and I know the differences. When I think someone is stupid, I mean they don't have much sense.

Pardon my rudeness, but I wasn't looking for deep advice with this, just letting off some steam in one of the few ways available to me at the moment, though I do appreciate it.

Actually most of that was aimed at demon and it wasn't that deep was it?. I still say grin and bear it though or you'll end up like House.

First problem of most people is that they think they are smarter than others when there is many kinds of wisdom in this world ; )
Everyone is dumb in some category and everyone has wisdom that others do not.

I consider myself to be average, or outright stupid, but compared to the stuff I see on the net and when I leave my house, I feel like I'm the only one with a three digit IQ.

Especially younger people. I'm 'only' 25, but when I see kids these days and I'm not talking about real kids, but teenagers, up to 18, they act like six year olds. They seem so focused on their phones and technology that they can't live in the real world. I meet kids, not even 15 years on this world, some hardly 12, smoking, drinking and talking about b*tches (actual quote here). Makes me really worried about the future...

On the bright side, I really love watching people on the streets bumping into each other, because they were so focused on their mobile device. They look like zombies that were suddenly brought to life.

Also, my lady and I had the talk about getting kids ourselves. I guess it's that time of life. Well, I found a great solution to the topic.
You see, I don't have a car, nor want one, so I travel by public transportation. I took my lady on a three hour trip around the city in trams and buses. After the ride, she said she never wants kids. Take that nature!

Kinda agree to this. I mean, why in gods name, is there a warning in the manual that I got with my new microvawe that tells me to NOT put babies inside the microvawe. I mean really?!

yea its to not be sewed basically if they didnt have that warning people would put a baby in the microwave untill that baby exploded and yes people are evil enough to do that for money

Ok you know the microwave story? Yes its true and old woman back in the 80's/90's used dry her cat in the oven at a low heat(i know wtf!!!), her son bough her a microwave and i'm guessing you can put 2 and 2 together and thats why there's that warning on microwaves. she got millions from the company that made it.

In my class it's worse, some are already talking about sex and even kids who are 11 years old have girlfriends, what's worse it that some creeps even watch porn at that age.
One day our history teacher complained about us not studying and asked us: "What will you do when you'll be in university?"

I'll agree with the OP here. I grew up in South Africa in the 80's and remember when colour TV was something new; in fact we were the first family in the village to own one! In my day people used to talk to eachother and actually read real books. Most of my family is super intelligent; my brother in law is a brain surgeon, my uncle has written most of the IT text books for Cologne University - I had a lot to live up to growing up.

I guess I was lucky in that I went to a private school and there were a number of incredibly intelligent kids, but that was only from like 13yo. At the time I was also doing lifesaving as a "sport" and, because it dominated by older guys doing it as a profession, you get treated as one of them.

I think my point is you have to have some give and take; fine a circle of friends who match your intelligence and find another circle of friends that match your maturity. If you can bring them together in a social environment; who knows, you may just satisfy both hungers.

Yeah, I'm aware of this, and I can assure you that I only mean in my general area, like a block or something. That and I'm specifically targetting people roughly my age (20-25), I'm definently not the smartest person around lol, just around in my age group.

I never knew kids these days where getting as bad as Res is going on about. Dayum, that's not a good sign.

Natural selection would be pretty nice right about now, there's too many of us anyway. Pardon the darkness of that statement, but that's how I feel.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this feeling has ZERO to do with your intelligence or maturity. Sorry, but it doesn't, it's an excuse. An intelligent person would understand that people have their strengths and weaknesses and a mature person wouldn't judge people based on others perceived weakness.

Well that's true but I think for some of us, like me, it's not that I felt distanced from peers because I was intelligent or mature or more so than they were. It wasn't me judging them and saying "I'm more intelligent and mature" or the like and then deciding to not get along. The issue I personally had was the label that came with good grades. I didn't attempt to manufacture a distance between my classmates and I but constantly only being identified as "the smart kid" led to a great deal of it. It's by far not the worst thing to be labeled as for sure but it made fitting in and being included in many common experiences more difficult. I then did add to the separation by learning to identify with other groups and goals. I should also add that I did get along with just about everyone but it was an aloof friendliness with most if that makes sense.
